Actual Wi-Fi statistics and then there is Daves' Facts.
According to the Well of knowledge, our Dave, there are 1700 positive reply's to his survey. If he bothered to look at the survey he would see that out of all the returns there are only 727 Computer owners. Out of that number 590 have internet access. Probably not counting the few that use the club house as their IP. (Where did he get 1700 from? Beats me)
So we have 7800 units here, El Primo says that that his numbers is outstanding 1700 or 727 I say compared to 7800 possible computers it is certainly not anywhere near outstanding. Its not even close. I think El Supremo has a agenda that does not consider the vast majority of the residents living here in Century Village and their (our) needs and wants.
So keeping all the above in mind, just exactly what is the Colonels' agenda , and that of his gang of 5. (The rest did not vote with him)
The best thing we can do is follow the lead of the Finance and Bid Committees and put Wi-Fi off till 2014. Un-elect Dave in the spring and move on. God willing.
Here's link to some more facts
Here's another one.
And still another one

Is it possible to get an outside review of the Internet survey. It seems that more than 1 in 5 CVers have Internet - maybe they aren't aware of the underlying technology when they get photos from their Grandkids. If it is truly a minimum subset of CV that has internet or a computer, maybe we need to revisit the issue.
ReplyDeleteWho has the original surveys?
try Anitra
DeleteHere is an overwhelming reply, thanks to Bid D

UCO probably has the original report. I put some links up in the posting. If you want hard copies ask at UCO

There is a full report at UCO. I just posted links to what the Major put up on his blog.

I am posting my thoughts here, because, apparently I can no longer post on the other blog. I am a relatively new owner and still have no definitive opinion about David Israel, the other officers or anyone else in Century Village. I was allowed to post comments and for a few months everything went well. That is, until I suggested that all or nothing for term limits were not the only choices. I suggested longer terms or more terms. That was posted, but since then I have been told that my info/password is incorrect, etc. For anyone who would like to check my e-mail is jantor07@hotmail.com and my password was writer69
ReplyDeleteI am one of the 1500 who indicated that they would be interested in WiFi for the village. However, this was general questionnaire with no indication of cost or type of service. I still would love to have village-wide Wi-fi and I am sure it would be beneficial to the community, however, i can also wait six months or a year while a thorough investigation is conducted. How many time have we seen ads for wi-fi or cellphone with a great introductory price and in very small print, the price we will pay in 6, 9 or 12 months. Let's be sure that there are no hidden costs or built-in raises before we agree and I would want a multi-year contract with stated costs before saying yes! That agreement should be presented to the village as a whole, in the same way that the survey was!!
I still have no negative/positive feeling about the officers/delegates, although I do think many of the postings sound as though they were written by teenagers. I post here, because apparently I can no matter what my thoughts..
We do not disagree with the Wi-Fi initiative. We disagree with the rush to get it, we disagree with the unexplained total costs. we disagree with the lock of respect for the bid committee, and we disagree with the fact that there are only 2 bids both of which are so far apart that its like they are not bidding on the same specs and is there a bid proposal spec with a required bid deposit?
DeleteThe bid committee would have seen to all of this.

Now you see what we have been dealing with as president of UCO. There is a definite off balance feel about the man. Here on this blog and in the new government come March we hope to have a more open forum with no ranting and raving, no fits and threats. Wi fi has a long way to go with many questions to be asked and answered before we can make an informed decision but Dave and cohorts do not agree. Again, this is not just on this issue, but in every issue at hand or up for discussion. This cannot continue. Sanity and courtesy is needed big time! And yes, sometimes the postings do descend to a lower level, but understand the rage of people who have been insulted, threatened and driven to the wall again and again . Patience does run out, but in any case, welcome to the open blog.
