I don't agree with Bobby Rivera. I believe in Term Limits. I believe in a level playing field. Term limits gives us that. No Term Limits does not.
The statement that Term Limits are not necessary. That we have Term Limits built into each of our Voting options is not true.
The truth is that the Incumbent always has the advantage. He has the advantage from the point of view of name recognition, from the point of view, in the case of Century Village, that he can block any and all opposition efforts to reach the electorate. He can talk all he wants at the Delegate Assembly and the Opposition get shut down.
So Bobby, you are wrong. The incumbent has the playing field tilted in his favor.
Term Limits would even it out some!!
We need Term Limits.
Knowing how Dave acts, as I do, I can't imagine anyone who would ever run against him due to what they would have to endure. They would be slandered, called every disgusting name in the book, belittled, embarrassed, and just about slaughtered. Dave will do whatever it takes to try to intimidate others. Who, in their right mind, would ever put themselves through that kind of torture? I know for a fact that there are people who would run if term limits were in place, because it would just be normal that Dave's term would end and a new face and name would be taking his place, so there would be no benefit to him to slander those folks who might be in the running. Knowing he is not REQUIRED to be replaced gives him not only the power, but the desire to do his best to belittle those who would have the audacity (in his mind only) to challenge him. Nobody and nothing will ever convince me that term limits should have ever been eliminated. It is simply insane.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the incumbent has the field tilted in his favor because the MAJORITY wants him in office. Then again, maybe not. It is up to the voters who they want in office. When FDR was in office the republican party wanted him out and after he passed away had legislation passed limiting the presidential term limits not realizing that THEY had a candidate that had the potential to have more than two terms, IKE.
ReplyDeletelessons learned.
placing a mandate on term limits does not give the people the choice of who THEY want. I am not interested in "evening" it out, I am interested in who the people want.
Bob, having ike for three terms would have been a disaster but that is for another discussion but the people for the most part have not a clue as to what is truly going on and follow like lemmings, reluctant to change but sure as shootin' they are waking up as can be seen on the blogs, at the growing readership on blogs and in the CV Messenger., Joy Vestal is now begging people to read her rag and she damn well knows why. This latest incident with firing Howie in a blatant act of rudeness, illegality and attempts to further suppress the right of free speech here in the Village . He gets fired because he questions David??!! Really, Bob, even you have to see this and stop making excuses and if people do not see or do not want to see, sometimes they must be made to see for their own good. We take away the blinders they have been assigned and wearing and open up the world of truth to them. Howie Silver fired indeed!
