It all started ....

. It all started with King George, and his abuse of power, which some Americans took exception to. (Others, of course, declared themselves "loyalists"... and saw no problem with the Divine Right of Kings). The hyping of external and internal threats to control the behavior of American citizens has a long and sordid history... to name only the Palmer raids of 1919-20, the McCarthy investigations of the '50's, Nixon's "enemy lists" whereby he'd use the IRS (hum!) to harass political opponents... and, of course, the recent IRS revelations, not to mention UCO Presidency... the wheel comes full circle.

  1. Indeed, it did all start with " King George", circa 2008/09. Exception was taken. "Loyalists" were shown the door.

  2. You know, we have been away for a few days and it seems that all hell has broken loose since we were away and even before as we had no time to look at the blogs but what a mess. I do not give a oot as to what one did before retirement here - be it spy for the CIA, NSA or intel officer, whatever that entailed, for the USAF. For you morons to spread a rumor that someone is accusing you of spying on CV people is beyond the beyond. You people are beginning to believe all your own nonsense that you spout and then to top it off Mike posts an obscene posting on Dave's blog about body parts. Hey, hanger on with supposed intelligence agents (sic), that borders on sexual harassment besides just being disgusting. And then we have the WEllington party that never was. I am not understanding what happened. Either the party was for the residents only and if so, then no guests are allowed, or guests were expected as per the payment schedule of $1?$5 and if so, then barring a guest for statements or beliefs or whatever is not to be allowed. Wish someone could give me a clear answer. And Dave, if you are so concerned about the Village then why not step up to the plate with all your followers and do something about the fence by Waldman? The majority of the owners here do not want the development so.....where the hell are you on this issue and action? But I do not expect an answer as I am still waiting for answers on the paving, which is looking crappier and crappier each and every day. So nice to see that the saying is so true - the more things change the more things remain the same and please do not send me another venomous email again Dave as I will publish it and my answer if I have to. If you wish to respond, then do so in a mature and intelligent manner and yes, by the way, the Declaration and the Constitution allowed for dissesnt. Remember the statement that we Americans hold dear, though I forget exactly who said it - basically stating that while I may hate what you have to say, I will defend your right to say it. That is called America and last time I checked, CV WPB is in the USA.

  3. Was there a vote taken of all Century Village owners to see that there is actually a majority of people who don't want the development built next door to us? I think not. It would be interesting to see. I know there is a group that is for the development.

  4. Dear Grace,
I am a devout atheist but I have the utmost resect for: HONOR THY MOTHER AND THE FATHER - and - the perpetuity clause.

  5. The only one I know who kept pushing for the development was Jean Dowling and her group. Take a look at the crowd who goes or went to the meetings and the overwhelming majority are against the development and Olga is right - in perpetuity means, or at least should mean, just that - forever. Look it up.

  6. There are no written rules in the bylaws of the Wellington Federation regarding guests for the Pool.
Lenore Velcoff, President of the Federation intended to bring a guest or two to the proposed 4th of July Pool Party. When she discovered that Mr. Grossman intended to invite a few of his friends, namely, Myron Solomon and Jerry Karpf, she became incensed and called a meeting of The Wellington Federation. Before the meeting took place, George Franklin, VP Wellington K called Marty Ephraim VP of Maintenance and Pools and told him to vote to cancel the party. After the party was canceled, Mike Rayber, Co-Pres. of Wellington K posted a letter in his bldg. informing the residents they are not allowed to go to any 4th of July party at the Wellington Pool.

  7. Still not clear why it was cancelled or the brouhaha about the guests. If one person was allowed, then others also should be allowed and if no guests were to be allowed then that was fine too. As far as people calling others or posting that residents could not go - well, there we have a problem. Before a meeting one can ask another for support but not dictate and certainly a building officer has no right to tell other owners what they can or cannot do. As I stated the other day, this is America and unless one is breaking the law, one can do what one wishes within the bounds of society. This is a very sad situation we have going on here.

  8. It was cancelled because Lenore Velcoff was angry when Ed Grossman told her Myron Solomon and Jerry Karpf were invited.
She claimed Mr. Grossman BASTARDIZED the party ( her words) by inviting people who are suing UCO. This was just a clear case of Lenore being vindictive. Unfortunately, she punished the residents of Wellington as well.......
