Can we get full and complete and sensible answers to these questions and I am sure I will be forgetting some other important ones as well. The way to process a contract is carefully, with all knowledge and possibilities discussed and planned for. What if questions need to be addressed so that when one is ready to go forward we are as informed and prepared as possible in any which way. If you have other questions to add, by all means just post them. Maybe we can send it all over to Dave and Anita who says it is okay to go piecemeal with bits of information sufficient for their purpose and aims.
These questions are in no particular order, only as they occurred to me.
1. How many companies have been approached for bidding?
2.How much effort was expended on this search for companies? Did we use our own experts and knowledgeable residents in the Village on this search?
3. What type of infrastructure is involved?
Material choices
quantity choices
quality choices
height and elevations
placement
4. Is there a warranty? For how long? Exactly what does it cover? Can it be extended and at what cost?
5. Who will own the infrastructure and if leased what is the cost? Who will pay for maintenance and upkeep?
6. What about upgrades to the system? Is there a schedule of review for upgrades? What is included in the original contract and what can we negotiate for the future?
7. Where have these systems been installed - close enough to travel to and certainly names to contact?
8. Are there issues with blockage by different heights of buildings and what about the different construction materials used in the different buildings?
9. What are some of the problems that you have encountered in installing these systems and how have you overcome them?
10. What problems have you encountered that you HAVE NOT been able to fix?
11.What is the process of approval for these projects? What governmental levels and departments are involved? If necessary, how are the costs for permits absorbed?
12. What about problems the residents will have within their homes as wifi is not a perfect system? Who will pay for the techie help needed and necessary and take into account that this is a senior development with less knowledge in this area for many of them.
13.What developments in the field are coming down the pike and how can we hook into these newer developments so we stay current?
14.Structure of payment - how and what is entailed before each payment is approved to go through? Is there provision for an escrow account for a reasonable amount of time to insure follow thru on the contractor's part to fix the bugs that arise - and there will be many.
I am sure there are more to be asked and answered but at this hour, this is what I came up with. Please add yours to the list by posting. Perhaps then the screamers will realize and understand that we all want wifi but not before proper time and planning.
Esther has clearly shown you the steps needed to be taken before a contract requiring a sizable amount of money is signed. It is her kind of thinking that is desperately needed in a person who is to be President of UCO. It is this type of mentality that is sorely lacking in David Israel which is why we are now facing the problems we are having. David Israel does not take the necessary steps needed to insure that the money we spend is spent wisely. He's a gung Ho kind of guy who gets us into deep-do-do and we have to live here trying hard to climb out of the muck.
ReplyDeleteThank you Esther for showing us the person we need to be President of UCO.
