The Malcontent, Thomas Jefferson

Stewart Richland
Hello Mr. and Mrs. Century Village and all those at sea….HAVE A GREAT NEW YEARS!

Salutary Neglect

This is an American History term that refers to an unofficial policy of the British Crown to avoid any confrontation with the American colonies while they were involved in Empire building around the globe.
The threat of rebellion by the colonies was of clear concern to the British crown.   When the independent minded colonists  decided they had enough of the heavy handed policies of the British crown they made their feelings known by holding public meetings,  using the press and placing informational notices on all public bulletin boards.  The British attempted to reverse this movement by placing restrictive rules on the Colonies.  These measures infuriated the colonists.  They struck back by forming the Sons of Liberty which led to the Boston Tea Party.

Will Durant, a famous historian, had written that, “History always repeats itself….the story of man runs in a dreary circle.”

That is just what happened here in the Village.  When Dave Israel began to take notice of the rising ground swell of disgust with UCO under his regime,  he could no longer turn a blind-eye to these events.  UCO along with a compliant WPRF adopted the policy of not allowing any political campaigning in the “Peoples House,”  or as many refer to it as the “Club House.”  The next move was to restrict any articles that were deemed anti-Dave Israel from being published in the UCO Reporter.  These actions were followed by UCO ridding itself  of any volunteers  that it deemed as not supporting the policies of the administration. Thus the seeds of anti-Dave Israel administration were sown.

Dave Israel, on his blog said “he recently experienced an act that he personally considers sacrilegious  when a political sign was placed on the grounds of the synagogue on Haverhill Road” . He called this banner an “eye sore”  and reported it to Code Enforcement.

Does Israel really believe that we would fall for this ambiguous idea that he was personally offended by Phyllis Richland’s  banner that announced that she was running for UCO President in 2016.  Fear of the growing opposition to his regime motivated Israel to sic the county and have the banner removed.

What is the purpose of an Association Bulletin Board?  It is a public forum that allows users news items and messages so they can be seen by many people.  So by Dave Israel’s definition anything placed on an Association bulletin board is viewed as pollution.  Is it not interesting how Dave can so easily compartmentalize those things that offend him.  What meets his displeasure he calls sacrilege, horrors to Betsy, but when  he resorts to language that degrades residents or fires them from their volunteer job,  that’s  perfectly acceptable by his standards.  Ugh!, and this is a man who wants to be a four time President.

Well Mr. Israel you are no Franklin D. Roosevelt!

Lets take a look at Mr. Israel’s three supporters!

So Lanny Howe just woke up.  Good the paper tiger is back in the game.  Lincoln once said that, “To keep silent when we should protest, makes cowards of men.” That is why I published my column on “forgiveness.”  The column you refer to  on David’s blog is just a literary technique to inform without resorting to pejoratives.  Sorry you did not get it?  I view my self as an individual that will not keep quiet because I do not want to allow what is happening to the Village to continue.

When Thomas Jefferson authored the Declaration of Independence he listed all the grievances that the colonists had endured under British rule.  Simply stated, they asked for redress, the King  did not listen, so now he informed the British King that they have reached a parting of the ways.

Jefferson was a “malcontent”  along with so many others. We here in Century Village feel emboldened by what our forefathers achieved, and we, the “malcontents”  know that our 1776 will arrive in March, 2016.

What can one say about “Gunga Din” Peter Cruise.  His claim to fame is carrying Dave Israel’s water, and tearing down campaign posters.  Enough said about number two stooge.

Grace suffers from what we call “selective memory loss” when it suits her.  In her posting about my grand daughter using our condo in the building in which she is the president, Grace intimates that we installed an underage person in an apartment that had, as George Carlin would say, “wine in it.” Horrors to Betsy. Gracie girl I would venture to say that 95% of every Village resident has some sort of alcoholic drink in their home.  I know that some residents take a swig, after listening to Dave Israel rant about his superior knowledge of UCO history.  However, let’s remind Gracie what the true facts were which she conveniently chose not to remember.  When Phyllis approached Grace to ask permission to have my grand daughter stay at our condo, she was studying for the Florida Bar and was working in a down town law office.  She was also in her late-twenties.  Grace found nothing wrong with this arrangement and signed the necessary condo papers that acknowledged and approved that  my granddaughter would be allowed to reside there while studying for her exams.
I should not waste words on people who deserve my silence,  but your suggestions were so gross that I was forced to deal with fake people by responding.

News from Neil in Canada

WHOOPEE ! WPRF finally caved in and gave The Messenger Club the use of the party room for meetings.

It may seem like a small victory, but considering that The Messenger Club was met with blunt, unreasonable denial up until now it's an encouraging sign. We are not sure why there was a sudden change of heart and why all of a sudden Eva Rachevsky decided or was instructed to loosen the reins. It could be that it is due to the Messenger Club sending a letter to her bosses ( signed by 170 residents) demanding answers to the question of her obstructing the club from using the room. Or perhaps it is because the Messenger Club found another venue for meetings in the medical building, where our newspaper was given a spot to be distributed in the lobby.

That venue is totally outside of WPRF or UCO control.
One may wonder why the Club wanted the use of the party room when they were holding meetings in another room in the clubhouse. The answer is simple. In the first place, The Messenger Club demanded that they be afforded the same privileges as every other club in CV.

Secondly the club wanted to serve refreshments to meeting participants, something that is not allowed in the room where meetings were held. Last but not least the club wants to hold social events and provide entertainment. A good example is the Memorial day event that was forced to find another venue even though the party room was available.
Stay tuned for details about our first meeting to be held in the party room just before the election. It promises to be a barn burner.

We are now looking to compel WPRF to permit the CV Messenger newspaper to occupy a spot beside other publications in the clubhouse. We are confident that we will get there if we persist, and persist we will !

Learn something Lanny. It won't hurt

LANNY HOWE DECIDES TO PERUSE THE “OPPOSITION” BLOG.

According to Lanny, it’s been a whole year since he decided to peer into this blog.  He apparently kept his head buried in the sand where he felt safe to hold on to his distorted views of his lord and master, David Israel. He states that because his mentor served 30 years in the NSA, he could not be compared to Hitler.  - guess again Lanny. There have been many cases where NSA members have murdered and committed treason.  Being a former member of the NSA does not make you a saint, but it does teach you to lie and use dirty tricks.

You say silence isn’t cowardly.  Tell that to the 38 people who in 1964 Queens New York heard Kitty Genovese screaming for help one hour and a half before she was brutally murdered. No one called the police in all the time she was being attacked. If they did, she might be alive today.

You praise Dom Guarnagia because he answered to charges made by the opposition.  How brave was he when he stood by silently and let David Israel waste five million dollars on a roadway project he knew to be defective?

Read  the blog more often Lanny, you may learn a lot.

And Remember a Vote for Phyllis is a Vote

Phyllis Richland for President

So what is all the hulu-baloo about the Phyllis sign? Here it is above. Is this frightening enough to have our President fake a name and call the Coppers. I think not. But he did!

And for that good man Dom G. The whole time he was involved with the UCO president he never voted for anything that was against the President's wishes. It starts with the Road fiasco and continues to this day. Boo on you Dominick.

Actually D.Israel is proud of his tattle-tale effort re the sign. But as a member of the CV Community I am ashamed of his action as should you be.

You must understand what is happening here and why it is happening. Israel has decided to run for the Presidency again. If successful this will be his 4th term. To his way of thinking, he must attack the competition. The competition being Phyllis Richland and her team.

So Dirty Tricks are allowed, at least in Israel's mind.

Not for one second does he think that this approach is wrong. The fact that this is a Synagogue is irrelevant. The fact the the CV Community is against this type of action is irrelevant. The fact that the sign was on private property and was posted with the Synagogue's permission is irrelevant.

It is so irrelevant that on his blog, the Very Private Blog, he boasts that if the opportunity presents itself again he will do it again.

God Bless Us Everyone!

Stew Richland
Hello Mr. and Mrs. Century Village and all our residents around the globe
 TAKING THE HIGH GROUND!
Taking The High Road – a NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION
Thomas Jefferson once remarked, “Nothing gives one person so much advantage over another as to remain always cool and unruffled under all circumstances.”
In this holiday season we are always reminded to forgive our enemies and reflect upon OUR families many blessings and not on the misfortunes and misdeeds of some among us who have to many to count. I will honor the spirit of this holiday season with a pledge to forgive those who wish me ill  and hope that the spirit of the holidays will bring clarity to their thoughts  and civility to their actions.
So I will take the high road during this holiday season and appreciate it and with the knowledge that every time I am able to find some humor in a difficult situation, I win.
On reflection of Dave Israel’s decision to notify Code Enforcement about the campaign banner that was placed on the synagogue fence on Haverhill Road or as he refers to it a “snipe sign,”  I initially felt anger in what you  did,  but  I’m just disappointed that you turned into the person that everyone says that you are.
Dave, I forgive you for having our banner  taken down.  I forgive you for that pathetic statement about polluting Association bulletin boards.  I forgive you for supporting a Nominations Committee that has been given so little time to prepare for an election that is so important to the future of Century Village.  I forgive you for all those snide and rude remarks that you utter at the Delegate Assembly meetings,  Advisory and Executive Board meetings.  Your forgiven for the decisions that you made that led to the firing of Howie Silver and so many others.  Being the Commissar of adjectives,  and snide remarks,  I also forgive you for the uncivilized behavior you always display at the Delegates Assembly towards those residents that you dislike.
I also give you a pass when you wanted to force WI-FI on the Village when very few people wanted it. A few years ago you had supported term limits and now you have “flip-flopped” on your position and fostering on Century Village an extra two years of your regime.  Based on your comments at a recent Executive Board meeting and your Presidents message in the UCO Reporter,  I will assume you are shooting for a fourth term as UCO President.  However, as generous as I am, I cannot forgive you for breaking the time honored term limit rule and using your position to restrict opinion columns in the Reporter that challenge your decisions.
Just an observation for you to ponder.  The high road can be narrow and bumpy but the view is magnificent.  So Dave, for your New Years resolution, I recommend you take the high road, you won’t be able to appreciate it until you do it and you will find that you are not alone,  Phyllis Richland and her supporters will be there to greet you.
Happy –Xmas to all. As Tiny Tim says: “God Bless us everyone!”

Beware the Bogey man will get you!

BEWARE OF ED BLACK

Ed Black is reading the writing on the wall and is deathly afraid that he is going to be thrown in the toilet when Phyllis becomes president.  So, in order to protect himself from losing his unofficial position in UCO, he has decided make a run for Vice President.  If, and only if, he succeeds, it will be a tremendous setback for the village. Ed Black may put on a smiley face but behind his exterior lies a devious monster that will stab you in the back on a moment’s notice.  Those of you who had dealings with him have experienced this firsthand.  We must make certain he does not get elected.

DO NOT VOTE FOR ED BLACK FOR VICE PRESIDENT OF UCO

Tuesday, December 22, 2015

10 Items on why to Vote For Phyllis

Some reasons to vote for Phyllis Richland for UCO President.

1. She will change the existing rule that forbids political meeting in any of the WPRF Facilities
2. She will change the Editorial Policy of the Reporter, the reporter will not be censured. All opinions are welcome. David Israel will not be able to list his so called accomplishments in the Reporter, to the exclusion of all others
3. She will put to rest finally, the ever continuing efforts to establish Village wide WiFI. Which has already been turned down by the DA and which many Associations have developed on their own.
4. Determine the need, and if necessary start a forensic audit of UCO’s books
5. Cause the existing blog to be turned into a truly Village Blog, or form a new one that meets the needs of all the Villagers. The blog will be opened to everyone.
6. She does and will support Term Limits
7. She does support 1 bite of the apple. That is the Officers only have one vote per issue
8. Any group, not only political will have a venue
9. She will adhere to Robert’s Rules in its entirety.
10. She supports the appointing a member to referee The Robert’s Rules

MLK says "I have a dream", olga says...

LAST NIGHT, I HAD A DREAM:

I was suddenly peering into a tall Iron Gate with the words ARBEIT MACHT FREI written on top.  Inside the gate a group of German SS soldiers were dragging an over weigh, bald-headed naked man toward a wall to be shot. Marching behind the SS soldiers was a group of prisoners,   Italians, Jews,  French,  Gypsies,  Americans,  Poles,  Russians and  Homosexuals. They were joyously cheering and singing Havah Nagila and were being led by a dark-skinned Harry Belafonte.   Strange, I thought, why is this man of color leading this chorus and why are all these people singing? I thought this was a camp for Jews.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………...................................................

I WOKE UP.

I asked myself, what could this dream mean?   I recognized the man being dragged to be shot. It was David Israel but  I did not understand the meaning of the mixed ethnic and racial group singing. I remember,   before going to sleep,  thinking about the sign incident at the synagogue.  I knew, by David’s action, he made many people angry; non-Jews and Jews alike. My dream was telling me  the message that this incident was not a Jewish question but a QUESTION on infringing on the rights of all free citizens, no matter their ethnic, religious or racial origin.

This is why we must all gather together to rid the village of David Israel.

A little more Warmth please

Attention EVA!!

WE the crochet ladies, and me, are getting up to here with our complaints and no creditable change in the Temperature of our meeting room.

It is too cold!! Way to COLD

We have been complaining and have been told that the problem is taken care of, but it hasn't.

Now the club members are refusing to come. It is to cold.

Can not something be done about this? Turn down the AC? Move us to a different, more warmer room?

Your attention to this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Gary

Sacrilegious is like a box of Chocolates, for some.

From the of Pen of Phyllis Richland - Candidate for UCO President

Humpty Dump Him...........

How ridiculous and lame is the posting on David’s blog. Where was this indignation 3 years ago when another candidate had a banner on the same fence of the same synagogue? What’s the difference now? I’ll tell you, it’s FEAR!!

This sad excuse for an administrator is running scared and he thinks he can blur the facts with fancy words. He knows his days are numbered so all of a sudden he becomes the Jew that finds it “sacrilegious “ to see a banner on the fence of the shul. What he sees is the end of his days in the back room searching for information on his computer that he can use in nefarious ways. He’s like the 5 year old that thinks he can sneak out of the house with a basketball under his shirt and no one will notice.

Well, my dear 5 year old, your indignation is your basketball and it is so obvious that you are not as smart as you think you are. You’ve been found out and it is too late for excuses. Sacrilegious my Aunt Tillie. The only thing sacrilegious is that you are still in office and that is going to change very soon.

Your basketball is showing, my dear, and no amount of fancy words is going to make it invisible.

POSTED BY PHYLLIS RICHLAND

All kidding aside

Is he kidding us? Does he actually believe that a sign on a property owner's property, on private property can fall under the anti-sign regulation?

Remember when Olga had a sign hanging out of her window, here again the great democrat, the great leader of men tried to get it down, in this case he was unsuccessful. So here to will he be unsuccessful.

I am sure that the Village is wondering why does he have time to attend to this ridiculous thing and not enough time to attend to Village business?

Come March this problem with David (Dirty Dave) Israel will go away.

Remember a Vote for Phyllis is a vote for sane and progressive managment.

Lets get rid of the Little Man

So the fascist has moved on. Now election signs that are against him, that are for the opposition, are verboten (forbidden). So where does that leave us, the regular unit holders? The people whose hearts and minds they are after.

Nowhere.

He has to go. We don't need anybody telling us where to place our signs, or have our club Meetings, or for that matter where and when we can electioneer.

Can you believe the little man, the little dictator, he believes he is right in all this. Unbelievable.

All of this commotion is because Phyllis put up a sign opposite the entrance at Haverhill, with the synagogue's permission.

So you would think, No problem. But No, the powers at UCO don't like it so he calls his friend at Code Enforcement and has it taken down. So, the Sheriff said UCO cannot use his Posse! So he is at it again. So we will call the sheriff again and complain and get it righted.

Little Man you cannot control the Sheriff. And soon you not be able to control us!! Change is coming.

Better you resign, then keep the idiocy going.

Vote for Phyllis.
Lets get rid of the annoying little Man.

EXCCUUUSSSSEEEE ME!???!!! YA GOTTA DO BETTER THAN THAT!

So the pathetic sacrilegious loser finally responded to the accurate reportings of his dastardly deed - the burning need to get rid of a sign pro Phyllis, so much so that he committed a sacrilegious act himself and brought the government down on a synagogue. Do not pretend for one second that you have a religious bone or corpuscle in your pathetic body. You, who would have a meeting on Yom Kippur. You, who has not been in a synagogue to pray is more years than a donkey could count - those donkeys being your crew, that cowardly bunch who have not spoken up to condemn your sacrilegious action.

Do not try to pretend that this is a "snipe sign". This is a regular banner for a political race and why was it there, you awful little troll? It was there because you have decided that you wish to follow the disgraceful footsteps of all the fascist dictators that have come before you - Hitler, Mussolini, Putin and the list goes on. How about Horvath or Petain and the list can go on. You are so desperate to maintain your regime that you go after a shul!!!! you nasty old man.
\
Write all you want, say you would do it again - keep putting that filthy foot of yours in your mouth time and time again and you will get back what you deserve and earn - contempt, vows of people who swear to get rid of you, the anger of people who have had enough of you and bring on your zombie delegates - we will have enough of the rest to beat you back. And if not - we will think of something else - a recall or whatever it takes to get you gone and out of UCO and out of our lives. You will have your computers and that is it. Your coterie of sycophants will desert you as you lose your power and instead of being a threat to others, you will furnish laughter and be a joke to the rest of the world, beginning with the Village - and then perhaps we will go on to the 200 million readers of that world wide web.

So keep on in your nasty, nasty, evil ways and you will bring yourself down. And we will all wave goodbye as you go to hell! Where you belong!

Dirty Dave

The underlying issue in all this controversy over an election sign  concerns the action taken by David Israel . It's a dirty trick to call officials and tattle on neighbors without warning.

We remember that Richard Nixon's political ambitions were shot to pieces when Americans were shown the truth, his participation in Watergate earned him the nickname Tricky Dicky, a name that stuck to his memory forever.

Now that the truth about David Israel is revealed by this incident it should earn him the title of "Dirty Dave" .

Every Knock is a Boost

The Cabal of Silence:

D.Israel, Ed Black, Barbara Cornish, Toni Salometo, Dom Guarnagia, Don Foster, Fausto, Herb F., Joy V. Myron, Ruth Dreiss, Jackie Karlin, Anita.

These are the Voices or shall I say the non-voices of part of the Village Power structure. They maintain a strict SILENCE to the questions of our needs and problems.

Why do not these people stand up to the questions about fairness and justice and the Rights of the rank and file in this Village? Why are they all Silent?

Look at these names. they all hold some Power, and they are happy about it. So why are they ignoring these, our, glaring problems?

Can it be that they are all afraid of Israel, afraid of Black afraid for their non-elected jobs?

Listen up folks. There is a Village wide Election coming up in March and so far we have seen the Silent type of Campaign Israel is running. It is know as the Dirty trick Campaign. This last foray into the area was a disgrace. He called the Cops on the synagogue, can you believe it? He wanted Phyllis' sign down so bad.

Does he not know, as my Father knew,"Every knock is a boost".

Examine your Sensibities

DAVID ISRAEL IS BEGINNING TO REACH THE PINNACLE OF MENTAL DETERIORATION.

How much lower is he going to stoop to win the UCO Election for president against his formidable adversary, Phyllis Richland? His latest caper to contact code enforcement to take down the banner,   “PHYLLIS RICHLAND FOR PRESIDENT OF UCO” at the Synagogue  was indicative of his despicable attempt to keep her from winning the election. The signs of his mental deterioration have become prevalent; he is so terrified of losing the election, he will resort to any means.

How far will David Israel resort to before he reaches the point of becoming a total madman? He is now cowering in his corner; it is only a short time before he begins to start mumbling to himself repeating the words, I’ll get them; I'll get them.    The delegates need to step up to the plate and vote him and all his puppets out of office before we become a shadow of Nazi Germany.

I am beginning to see remnants of the seeds of Adolph Hitler being played out in Century Village. In the beginning, people did not take Adolph seriously until he started to annihilate the people who supported him before turning on his enemies. Is this what we want for the village?    I think not.   I call on all good people to examine their sensibilities and support Phyllis Richland for President of UCO.

Operas are great

Resignation is in the wind

Hillary did great at last nights' debate. David Israel not so much.

The problem with the President, soon to be the ex-president, is that he is to full of himself. After the dirty trick that he orchestrated yesterday involving the Phyllis Richland sign he should quit.

He studies all the County and State rules and regulations. That's why he is holed up in his office, and then he may find an obscure, rarely used rule. Then call the Code enforcement and they are forced to respond. And so they did.

That was not necessary. That was not needed. That shows to the height that Israel has fallen(?)

What is He afraid of? That is going to lose the Election? That is a forgone conclusion.

What he should do is resign.

The Star Spangled Banner - Kurt Mazur Conducting - RIP

Kurt Masur, who is credited with restoring the New York Philharmonic to renown after taking its helm in 1991, died Saturday at the age of 88. The conductor believed that music-making was a moral act that could heal the world, a belief he put into practice to avert bloodshed in East Germany in 1989 and in a moving performance after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Here he is leading the Star Spangled Banner.

Davis Israel your days are Numbered

So, you may wonder what your President is doing locked up in his office pounding away on his computer, tap  - tap-tapping. Well read Phyllis's last post. Talk about dirty tricks. He cannot address our complaints face to face. No he must sneak around and put in a complaint with the Sheriff's office. The last time he tried that they said NO you cannot use the Sheriff's Posse for your private agenda. The same thing is going to happen here. I'll bet he wishes he could have done it anonymously.

So this situation is not over. The ladies of the Malcontents will not allow this to go unanswered.

Woe on you David Israel.

.....Long May Her Banner Wave

Dear readers,
You may notice that my banner is no longer outside the Village at the Haverhill gate. What happened you may ask. Well, folks I will tell you.

On Thursday morning my neighbor and good friend Cookie and her husband were coming back from breakfast and they noticed a truck and driver stopped at the gate of the synagogue where i was given permission to put up my campaign banner. The driver of the truck was an agent of Code Enforcement and he was getting ready to cut the chains that held my banner securely onto the gate. Cookie,my dear friend and great supporter, stopped him, gave him her name and phone number and asked him not to cut it off until I had a chance to speak to him and find out why he was going to do this. He gave cookie his card and asked her to have us call him which we did and made an appointment for the following morning at 9am.  Stew and I were there at Code Enforcement bright and early Friday morning. We spoke with two gentlemen from the division, and let me tell you they were the nicest people, and they explained that there was a  report of a violation they received and they had to address it. well, you know we had to remove the banner but this opened up a can of worms. Not for me but for the synagogue. It turns out that the violation was sent to Aitz Chiam and they were sited with 6 violations.

I asked if I could have a copy of the report and it being freedom of information they gave me copies of everything. It turns out that our illustrious president reported this to code enforcement. A copy of the violation and complaint went to the commissioners and now Aitz Chiam has had the problem dropped in their lap.

There is nothing more I can say that would allow me to maintain my composure and retain my self respect. But this I will say, you can run but you cannot hide, David. Our time has come and the ground swell of support for me only grows.I may not be able to speak in the clubhouse or at the pools, but that is not stopping me or my supporters. I am speaking at their meetings , at their associations, and in their homes. My campaign material is being distributed and if you notice , it is the women that are heralding my ideas and my values. We are strong and there are many of us and we will win.

Once again, I want to thank all the clubs and associations that have given me the chance to speak  to them and answer any questions they may have. My home number is 697-3601.Please call if you want me to attend any of your meetings.

The Hole in the Head Gang

A hole in the head or the head in a hole. A hole in the head is a euphemism to describe a person who is acting irrationally, a head in a hole usually describes one who doesn't see reality as they keep their head hidden like an ostrich trying to avoid something unpleasant.

It seems we have a bit of both in the administration of Century Village.

Their actions sometimes defy any semblance of logic when it comes to listening and considering what many residents are saying, ergo; a head in a hole.

The way things are done and the irrational and sometimes expensive decisions they make indicate they don't know what they are doing. That's a  hole in the head.

The "official"village  newspaper is a good example, there has been and it looks like there will continue to be a lot of complaints and dissatisfaction about their editorial policies. Fluffy articles about restaurants or stores abound while real stories that affect the villagers are ignored. It really looks like the editors are loath to publish anything that portrays  the village and the people who are running it in a negative way. That's  like the ostrich hiding its head while hungry lions approach. Pushing well meaning volunteers out of participation then hiring  people to do the work is not a rational approach either.

The latest move to deny residents " good of the order" at delegates assemblies indicates the administrations resistance to listening and considering what residents have to say. That's what a hole in the head is all about.

The feeling is that they are hearing but not listening as the words leak out through the gaping hole of intolerance to anything that doesn't suit their purpose.

Continuing to push an agenda that was heartily struck down by the delegates, like the WIFI/BROADBAND initiative that we are all fed up with hearing about, is not a rational approach to governing. The delegates spoke but their voices went right through that hole in their heads.

When we see the way things are being done, we can try to figure out if the perpetrators have their heads in a hole or have holes in their heads. It really doesn't matter, either way it leaves villagers in the position of wondering if the hole in their heads is going to get any bigger or the hole for their heads is going to get any deeper.

WHATTA KNOW, YOU DON’T KNOW NOTHIN

So David Israel says he is the only one suited to be president of UCO and is the only one who knows everything there is to know about running UCO?  -  Some arrogance huh? I think he needed to say this at a meeting because he is afraid Phyllis Richland is going to take the power away from him when she becomes president of UCO.

The air-raid signal is blaring David. It's time to hide under your desk.  Phyllis Richland is flying that bomber above you and about to blow you into oblivion. POOF! There goes David crying like a baby because Phyllis beat him in the election, and he has nowhere to go. He has no friends to escape to - poor David - alone and forgotten – ashes to ashes, dust to dust; he is now only a forgotten memory.

David, here is a piece of philosophical advice you should memorize:

PEOPLE, WHO KNOW EVERYTHING, LEARN NOTHING.  PEOPLE, WHO KNOW NOTHING, LEARN EVERYTHING.

It’s very simple, read it carefully, and maybe you will learn something new.  The message is clear. When a person knows everything, he learns nothing; therefore, he becomes as stagnant as the water in our lakes. When a person knows nothing, his mind is open to new and fresh ideas; his mind is a sponge willing to absorb knowledge and   become smarter and smarter every day. If you accept this philosophy maybe  you can come back with a little humility and run for president in two years when Phyllis’s term is up. If you don’t read it and learn nothing, you can return to your little lonely hole and wither away as the arrogant fool who thinks he knows everything and never learns a thing.

Hasta La Vista Baby!

Phyllis Speaks

It was a lively meeting. Well attended by interested residents. Watch the video to see how Phyllis answers some tough questions and discover what her vision is for the future of the village.

News from Platnium

Here is an interesting bit of confusing news. Take it for what it is worth.

Hi Gary and Esther,

I thought you might want to post this to the blogs:

The security guards are at Kent Pool today to let people know that as of tomorrow (Friday), everyone must have their ID with them, as the guards will be checking to be sure everyone at all the pools is someone who is allowed at the pools.  As of tomorrow, if you don't have your ID, you will be removed from the pools.

What we, the Residents think, see below

Olga Wolkenstein has left a new comment on your post "News from Platnium":

Asking for an ID at the pools is illegal and an infringement of the rights of free citizens. This practice was tried over ten years ago and stopped for this reason. Legally, you may only ask a resident to show an ID if he/she is creating a disturbance. Because our so-called security is unable to properly enforce our code of ethics, they need to use Gestapo tactics to attempt to keep peace in the village.
DO NOT SHOW YOUR ID IF YOU ARE NOT CREATING A DISTURBANCE AT THE POOLS. STAND YOUR GROUND. THIS IS NOT A CONCENTRATION CAMP. YOU ARE NOT PRISONERS.
We do not need a ID to enter the pools, we only need an ID to enter the clubhouse and the village.

Merry Christmas!

Carole

The gang at UCO are nearly speechless.

Have you noticed the appalling silence from David Israel and his minions? There are no sounds from him on any of the issues being discussed in the Village. It is as if these discussions have left them speechless.  It is as if he has decided to keep quiet and keep his feet out of his mouth. Not a bad idea there.

Here is some more of what transpired at the meeting yesterday. That meeting, by the way, was very good. Once Phyllis finished speaking she invited questions from the audience and they came fast and furious.

Phyllis was asked what she would do to open up the WPRF Properties to miscellaneous meetings now forbidden. This would include the clubhouse and the Pools. She stated emphatically that she is for this rule change. It appears as if the President and his unelected helper, Ed Black, have put in these rules to stymie the opposition.

Is she in favor of Term Limits? Absolutely. Yes. As is/was/is David Israel.

She is for one vote per unit. Also known as universal Voting. Yes and she explained that this was tried before, but they wanted to use the County's machines. But scheduling got in the way. This time will a little planning it could happen.

She is against exofficio or an officer holding more than one voting position on more than one committee.

She is against the Village wide wifi. She prefers the methods we are now using to wifi the Associations.

At the Meeting we expected to see a number of members of the Italian Club,  but no, alas they did not show up. Also  it was expected to see a number of members of the Gun Club. But no they also did not show up. And where were the members of the executive board, members of the officers Board? No they apparently don't have a interest in the goings on in our Village.

This is the one venue, the one place, you could see and hear Phyllis and ask all the questions you want. This is one of the places you could see and hear what the Presidential Candidate has to say. This is the place to see and hear where the Presidential Candidate stands on the various issues here in the Village.

So maybe at the next visit by Phyllis they will show up.

More Bits and Pieces

So, if you heard a rumor about Ed Grossman running for UCO President, forget it. It is not so. It was thought about, but Ed decided to throw his considerable weight for Phyllis Richland. As do I.

Phyllis held forth at the latest CVMessenger meeting this Tuesday for about 1 hour. She fended questions from the floor creditably. She did herself and her followers proud.

Some of the things that were asked and answered were "How do you feel about armed Guards in the Village" The answer was that Phyllis was all for it. However the addition of armed Guards and guns in the Village requires an additional level of licensed Guards. I believe it is type F. This would mean additional costs.

Where do you stand on the WIFI initiative Aka Broadband, which was turned down by the DA? Phyllis is against it. Period.

If  an audit is found with discrepancies, what then? If the Professionals that audit us found such a discrepancy, then it has to be moved to the legal, to the courts, to Tallahassee.

What is your attitude as to Term Limits? I am for it. As was/is/was D.Israel.

And so it went for over an hour. It was great. She addressed most of our complaints in a positive manner.

Catch her at her next outing.

Remember Vote for Phyllis Richland.
It is time for a Change.

Bits and Pieces

Joy Vestal, a nice lady, I think. I have never met her. I am a little surprised that she insists on holding 2 major jobs.

One, the main editor of the Reporter. Where she has eliminated Letters to the Editors. The excuse was no body wrote to the Editors any more. The fact is nobody wants to submit a letter and have trashed, and not published.

The other job she wants is Vice President she want to be a quadrant manager. Why would she want this when she is full and overloaded at the Reporter.

I think she should choose one job. Embrace it and give us all her efforts as necessary.

Have any body noticed the complete downfall of the Very Private Blog. It has turned into a Penny Save type paper. It appears as if, except for the Active Shooter Seminar, there is very little good Village info.

Nobody is interested in this Website any more.

Phyllis Richland has announce for the Presidency. She is running for President of UCO under the banner "That it is time for a change" I wish her luck and this blog will back her vigorously.

The CVMessenger paper and Club are also backing Phyllis.

A Letter from Phyllis Richland

DEAR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS;

THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE ONE OVERRIDING ISSUE THAT UNITES MOST GROUPS IN CENTURY VILLAGE IS TO BRING AN END TO THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION.

I WAS RECENTLY APPROACHED BY MEMBERS OF THE C.V. MESSENGER CLUB. THEY ASKED ME IF I WOULD CONSIDER RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT OF UCO IN MARCH OF 2016. I REALIZED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY FORWARD TO DEFEAT THE INCUMBENT WITHOUT THE HELP AND SUPPORT OF ALL THE GROUPS IN CENTURY VILLAGE. I DID EXPLAIN TO THE MESSENGER CLUB MEMBERS THAT I HAD STRONG FEELINGS AS TO WHAT TYPE OF ADMINISTRATION I WOULD PUT TOGETHER IF I WON AND THAT THEIR SUPPORT AND INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED BUT I MUST MAINTAIN MY POSITION AS A TRULY INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE.

UPON REFLECTION OF THIS DECISION, I REALIZED THAT THE MESSENGER CLUB’S GOAL IS TO BRING ABOUT POSITIVE CHANGE TO OUR VILLAGE. CALLING THIS GROUP MALCONTENTS A PEJORATIVE** WHICH WAS THOUGHT TO SHRINK THEM INTO OBLIVION DID NOT AND WILL NOT WORK. MORE AND MORE PEOPLE REALIZE THAT THIS ORGANIZATION PROVIDES A VOICE FOR THOSE THAT HAVE NO VOICE IN CENTURY VILLAGE.

SO, I NEED THE HELP OF ALL ORGANIZATIONS IN ORDER TO WIN THIS ELECTION AND BRING ABOUT THE CHANGES THAT ARE NEEDED.

WE MUST RETURN TO THE PRINCIPLES WE ALL BELIEVE IN. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY, TRANSPARENCY, OBEDIENCE TO THE WILL OF THE MAJORITY AND FINALLY RETURN TO AN ERA OF LEADERSHIP IN WHICH EACH AND EVERY RESIDENT IS TREATED WITH THE RESPECT THAT IS DUE THEM.

WE NEED THE VILLAGERS TO STAY INVOLVED AND HOLD THEIR LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DECISIONS THEY MAKE.

AS COO (Chief Operations Officer) OF A LARGE COMPANY, I HAVE ALWAYS FELT THAT A GOOD MANAGER IS ONLY AS GOOD AS HER SUPPORT STAFF. THAT IS WHY I WILL REACH OUT TO ANY RESIDENT WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO BE PART OF THE TEAM TO MOVE CENTURY VILLAGE FORWARD.

I WANT TO BE THE LEADER THAT WILL BRING HARMONY AND A UNIFIED UCO DEDICATED TO OUR RESIDENTS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME,RESPECTFULLY,

PHYLLIS RICHLAND, CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT OF UCO.

**a word expressing contempt or disapproval.

PHYLLIS RICHLAND, THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF UCO

Phyllis Richland is running as an independent candidate who welcomes all support. She wants your vote but does not want to pay for it by being obligated to return a favor. As president of UCO, she is planning to surround herself with the most qualified people and welcomes volunteers from both sides of the political spectrum. When problems arise, she expects input from both sides in order to find the best solution. This is exactly what the framers of our constitution did; they argued fiercely until they came to a decision; The U.S.  Constitution - not too bad.   I believe Phyllis Richland is the best candidate to give the village the needed boost to forge ahead.  She has the proven experience and the knowledge of UCO laws to more than qualify her to be the next president of UCO.

GO FOR IT GIRL.

Good and Welfare Forever!

JOY VESTAL TELLS ALL THE RESIDENTS TO: SHUT UPPA YA MOUTH

How did Joy vestal get away with telling all the residents of Century Village to shut their mouths and never say another word to the delegate assembly? Simple, her editorial in the UCO Reporter suggests we eliminate GOOD OF THE ORDER also known as GOOD AND WELFARE from the Delegate Assembly. If we did this no one would be allowed to inform the residents of important meetings, problems in associations or any other pertinent information relevant to the village; good or bad. Yes, sometimes people need to be aware of the truth as well as the lies.  We can only find a solution to a problem when we are apprised of it. Joy Vestal wants us to keep our mouths shut - never allow the residents to learn the truth - sweep all our dirt under the rug and keep the residents anesthetized.   For this reason, the CV Messenger Newspaper has become extremely popular; people are clamoring for more and more; they have become voracious for real news.   The CV Messenger is making the residents aware of some of the serious problems affecting the village and solving some of them.

THE CV MESSENGER HAS BECOME THE REAL VOICE OF THE VILLAGE.

More Opinions

Congratulations to Olga (Malcontent, Activist) for her persistent and unrelenting efforts, her continued pushing to get the By-Laws changes passed. With this old rule re-established the Delegates will get a chance to advise on matters that would not reach them otherwise. Hooray for Olga. Hoorah for Olga.

Today December 7. A day that went done in infamyNot a day for celebration, but a day that should be acknowledged as the beginning of the end of the 2 greatest dictators, until now. Now we have ISIS and the crazies that hang out with them. They too will disappear.

The new By-Law change that is being put forth by the Malcontents is about One-Vote per residence. This bill has been killed or buried in the Committee by David Israel. This cannot be allowed to happen. We have just passed a By-Law to prevent this, but the Great one, The Great Israel has saw fit to bury it, This must be reversed.

Another By-Law that has disappeared and should not, is the re-establishing Term Limits. This By-Law was changed by a vote in the Delegate Assembly, when everybody did not realize its importance. Now it is time, past time, to bring it back!

Remember it only takes a petition of 25 Unit owners names to bring it before the Assembly.

The Messenger Club has a meeting schedule for Dec.15.  10-1PM at the CSI Meeting place, room 104.

We are on a Slippery Slope

Hello Mr. and Mrs. Century Village and all our residents around the globe.

By Stew Richland
Sliding down the razor blade of life  in Century Village?  Yes, residents we are headed down a slippery slope.  The present UCO administration is subtly greasing a slippery slope here in the Village which is designed to reduce, restrict,  and eliminate almost casually,  all sorts of free speech forums that has provides us with the transparency that is necessary to make informed decisions.  According to the dictionary, the term slippery slope means:
an idea or course of action which will lead to something unacceptable, wrong, or disastrous.
Yes, we are sliding into a swamp. This descent is being orchestrated by UCO, the editorial policy of the UCO Reporter and WPRF.
Bobbi Levin, in her column, “UCO Elections 2016” states, that the 2016 Century Village election is important to all residents because our “daily lives are impacted by the decisions made by UCO officers.”  Fine.   However, here is where we begin to slide down the slippery slope.  She tells us that “homeowners should communicate their preferences for election to our delegates.”  Good idea right?  The problem is so obvious.  On what basis is a preference being made. using a  Crystal Ball,  a fortune teller,  or perhaps the “close your eye and where your finger sticks, becomes your choice.”  How can any thinking delegate accept this process.  If the selection process is so vital to our lives here in the Village, why is there not some forum (and more than one) to provide for substantive discourse between the candidates and the electorate?  Mz. Levin suggests that during the annual condo association meetings would be a “perfect  opportunity to discuss these matters.”
Lets examine how Bobbi Levin suggests this can be accomplished.  Candidates can be invited to association meetings and have a meet and greet. Most associations hold their annual meetings in early January,  before most candidates have announced their candidacy.  Next she suggests that the candidates speak to club groups.  I don’t know if Mz. Levin is aware that WPRF, with UCO’s approval prohibit any club from inviting candidates to speak on threat of losing their club room for privileges.  She also suggests that candidates use the US mail system. Who will pay the postage for 7,854 apartments.  The problem is getting the names and addresses of each association.  She also suggests using the internet to  communicate that candidates wish to speak to their respective groups.  Where do you obtain the internet addresses of all the associations.  I doubt that our current president would share this information with a potential rival.
Now it is suggested that we use the UCO Reporter. The Reporter will only print a short biography of each candidate.  The problem is that it is a one-sided form of communication.  The candidate provides the information as to why they should be elected and it stops there.  No question and answer period is provided.  But Mz. Levin says that a candidates forum will be scheduled for the club house.
Is this not a contradiction to the existing WPRF/UCO policy in place.  If they can bend the rules for a one time event, why not bend it a little bit further and allow electioneering in the club house and extend this policy for the pool areas also.  I speculate that there will be at least three to four announced candidates for UCO President.  Rumor has it that there will many candidates for VP and the Executive Board.  With at least twenty plus candidates running for office, how much time will be allotted to each candidate to make their pitch?  How much time will be allowed for question and answer along with candidate challenges?  Based on this scenario, we need many forum to produce a level playing field.  Lastly, how will the election committee communicate to the delegates and other interested  residents that a forum will be held?  Channel 63 is not watched by many residents.  The newspaper is printed once a month and there is no guarantee that many people will read that a forum is scheduled.
At the end of her column we are reminded that under regulation #19 no campaigning will be allowed on WPRF property with written consent.  We have been told over and over again that WPRF/UCO will not give their consent.  #21 and #22 says no advertising or handouts  will be distributed  except by WPRF/UCO consent at the club house and pools.
Since Century Village is an over 55 community, it seems quite logical to assume that most of our residents have participated  in local, state and national elections.  Coincidently, both the Democratic and Republican parties are in a heated campaign leading to each parties respective primaries.  Yes, the national campaign is vital to Americans, but our own community is planning  to hold an election in March 2016, that is vital to the welfare of our community.  We are being told this by the UCO Reporter and the current administration.  If this election is so important, why are we coming up with a second-rate plan for this event?  The optics of this election process clearly shows the lack of real and timely planning by UCO. At the preliminary meetings those in charge seem tone deaf to making the changes that will mitigate the problems that I have underscored.
In the current culture we are living in, if you see something, say something. Well I am,  but UCO and WPRF is not listening!
This is why I have chosen the headline that Century Village is going down a slippery slope and thinking people are trying to prevent the Village from going over a cliff.

Info about Neil

By Neil Moore

IT's amazing ! I keep seeing and hearing all the rumors about where I am and what I am doing. Someone said I am in Miami . others say I am still in the village So to quell the concerns I decided to let you all in on the secret .

At this moment I am on an express train somewhere between Montreal Quebec, Canada and Toronto Ontario Canada. The train makes a 450 mile journey in around 4 hours. It's actually faster than taking the plane if you consider everything. The noise this thing makes as it roars along is incredible. We passed a freight train going the other way, it sounded like an explosion as it passed . the rattling of the wheels as they fly over 100 year old tracks shaking the car like a rocket lifting off adds a lot of excitement. The conductor just arrived with a man carrying a tray of complimentary sandwiches and coffee for the passengers, I passed as my stomach is in knots at the thought of what I am doing.

I will be arriving in Montreal around 1 pm if this rattletrap holds together. Then I will be spending a day or two searching through musty old records, then back on this train for another terrifying ride back to Toronto.

I'm not in CV right now but like Arnie said in a movie " I'LL BE BACK."

The Delegates are in charge.

A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME IN CENTURY VILLAGE
By Neil J. Moore

David Israel tried to send a message but got a message from the delegates he didn't expect instead.

A recent posting by UCO President David Israel has residents perplexed.

The posting appeared on David Israel's blog imploring delegates to come out and vote against a proposed amendment to the bylaws.

In David's words:

The Malcontents have brought forward an Amendment to the UCO Bylaws. The entire item may be read on Page A6 of the December issue of the UCO Reporter.

The poison pill in this Amendment is contained in the following snippet:

"The Executive Board, after due deliberation, shall either approve or disapprove the amendment proposal as presented. The proposal shall then be published in the next issue of the UCO Reporter, and shall then be read and considered by the Delegate Assembly at the meeting following its publication."

the current Bylaw allows the proposed Amendment to expire, if it is rejected by the Executive Board, thus preventing the bogging down of the Delegate Assembly with endless repetitive, frivolous Amendments.

So, what is the true purpose of this Amendment? Clearly it is to amplify the ability of this small group of disruptive people to continue their disruptive behavior at our Delegate Assembly meetings.

In light of the forgoing, I ask the Delegates to attend in great numbers and reject this Amendment at the meeting on Friday, December 4th. Send the disruptor's a clear message.

Dave Israel

What is perplexing to CV Residents is that David Israel voted in favor of this amendment at the committee meetings before bringing it to the delegates .

It's obvious that Israel wanted this motion to go before the delegates so that they could squash it and send a message to the "malcontents" that he is in charge and the delegates could send the disruptor's a clear message , it was a big mistake on his part. The proposed amendment passed with an overwhelming majority at the delegates assembly, who showed support for the so called malcontents in doing so.

The clear message from the delegates is that; THEY ARE IN CHARGE and they are not ready to hand over their authority to anyone, especially one who has trampled residents rights with regularity. Israels statement that the purpose of the amendment is to amplify the ability of a small group of people to disrupt meetings missed the mark. The obvious intention of the amendment is to maintain the delegates rights to approve or disapprove any changes, taking away the veto power that the administration has abused with amazing predictability and regularity.

Israel resorted to his usual underhanded tactic of poisoning the well. He used the UCO email system to promote his personal point of view which is really unacceptable. He also used it to attack a resident activist whom he despises for her activities which is also not an acceptable or authorized use of the email system.

There was no good reason stated why this amendment should be turned down. Israel attacked the authors of the proposal , which was initiated by Olga Wolkenstein, claiming her efforts are merely to disrupt. In Israels opinion the amendment should be turned down, and all authority over bylaws be handed to him and his cronies. The delegates saw through the fog of deception Israel was producing and sent him a clear message in an overwhelming majority that they were not falling for it.

The next step is to reintroduce the proposed amendments that were recently squashed at the committee level by Israel and his gang. TERM LIMITS ... UNIVERSAL VOTING IN THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS .... If David Israel thinks these proposals are frivolous and without merit perhaps he should wait until the delegates have a chance to examine them and vote on adopting them. If he had brought the proposals to the delegates, as has been the custom for many years, the issues would have been dealt with and the vox populi would have been heard. Now the proposals are back to square one and have to go through all the nonsense at the committee levels again.

In any event all proposals to amend the bylaws will now go before the delegates for a vote. We now see an end to the actions of the crony crew at the committees who followed Israels lead and turned down any proposal that did not suit the administrations intentions to control every part of the process and shut out the objections from concerned residents.

The delegates showed their concern and interest in maintaining their position of authority. Now let's see what the delegates think of the rest of the proposals that were arbitrarily buried by the committees. Despite the unreasonable opposition from the committee members it will be up to the delegates to decide.

Judging from the vote on this one issue, it could very well be that the rest of the proposals will pass .

It was a big step for the delegates to take in turning down David Israels ploy and to vote for what's right. Is this a sign of things to come in the upcoming election ? Many residents, fed up with Israels shenanigans, would like to think so.
