PERHAPS THERE IS HOPE

This part of the post is from Bob's Blog and it states much of what I have been saying. The only question is - does Bob realize the truth behind these statements and that one side is not innocent in this mess?
"In a conversation with someone that happens to be a fairly new renter, he made some observations that really puts Century Village in a bad light. He stated that he moved in not realizing how political our village has become. The hostilities between the two sides has made it clear that he will move once his lease is up and would NEVER consider buying here.
That is the consequence of the childish stupidity of these constant battles. The constant knives thrown at it other. Rodney King was made a punchline on the late night talk show circuit after his "Why can't we all just get along?" comment. Punchline or not, the words ring true. Why CAN'T we all just get along?
All this hostility just because one personality doesn't like another.
Get a grip. try to put the personalities aside and do something that the village needs. Work together.
Stop the frivolous lawsuits, stop the childish rhetoric, extend an olive branch instead of a knife.
If you can't, then maybe you should consider finding an alternative living situation, because it won't get better until you do.
"

Bob, kudos to you for saying these things and I hope you are not drummed out of your corps, or perhaps I do, so that you would finally see the truth. I have been begging for reconciliation and civilized behavior for literally months and all you have to do is go back and check my postings  and you will see those words there. However, my words generally fell on deaf ears, even hostile ones.

When one side of an issue thinks that disagreement with that issue is tantamount to treason, there is very little leeway for rational reconciliation. Unfortunately, David Israel, who brags about his NSA years, seems to have absorbed the governmental philosophy of stomp on your foes and that is where he is so wrong and so bad for the Village. He wants to be president? Fine. I have no problem with that IF he understands that there is and always must be an opposition, not in everything, but some things, as to disagree is a human trait and a civil right. But when any slight disagreement is shot at with an ICBM missile, then imagine - no, see- what he and his cronies attack with at a larger and more serious disagreement of policy.

How is one to work with that? Why can he not see reason? Why can he not approach his political opponents, those of differing viewpoints and say let us work together for the sake of the Village. Let us work in transparency. Please feel free to voice your opinion without fear of slander and nasty names being rained down upon you. Welcome to committees.

BUT, instead of that, those with different points of view are maligned and booed at every moment. Point of truth, when Olga got up to make a point, she was immediately greeted with a round of groans and boos. This is mature behavior? NO!!!! But this is what is encouraged and tolerated. A gavel should have banged at that point and out of order should have been said, but no, it wasn't. EVERYONE has the right to speak and be greeted with civility, without being told to shut up, as Lenore Velcroff told Olga. Granted, Olga responded with a four letter word, but what else is her alternative? How much disrespect is one to absorb? When one lives in the Village one has the right to speak without harassment and disrespect.

So, Bob, you tell me. Where do we go from here. David Israel is willfully deaf and recalcitrant. His followers, those people who always need a strong man, be he tin pot dictator or larger version, continue to be nasty in their postings, raining down insults on people whether they said something or not. Why all the bombastic shouting and stalling when asked for information? Why the tolerance of foul language towards dissenting statements at committees? Why must there be a unilateral administration here in the Village and not a democratic one. Where discussion is encouraged, there is a place of progress.

Will people leave? Assuredly so, but not only for one reason. When they see another faction uniting behind another, and these factions themselves have differing viewpoints, yet see the importance of variety in opinions; when they see that a renter has her sticky fingers deep in people's private information as she works on newspaper, channel 63, AMR, Food stamps, IT, etc, etc; when the newspaper is totally controlled by the administration and refuses to allow dissenting voices despite what they say in their statements in the paper; when all this is happening, yes people will leave, people will not come and David Israel will end up presiding over his little coterie of nasty spouting people and when they all die in an empty echoing Village, hopefully, they will remember to shut off the lights before they take their last breath and hopefully they will remember that once, there was a place known as Camelot - and they killed it off.

I am ready to work with anyone for the sake of the Village. Are you and yours?

    1. The people who listen are not in positions to do anything about it and the ones who are, are not listening. They are mainly concerned with maintaining their position in what they perceive to be seats of power and I guess they are right as they now control every outlet in the Village. Why would they listen now that they have it all according to their desires. Find a way to get them to listen and I am right there.

  2. Yes, I totally agree with you and Bob. It's time for both parties to extend an olive branch and work together for the sake of the village.
If you agree, try to post it on all blogs and even in the UCO REPORTER.

  3. David's blog blocks me and gives me a message that I am not allowed to post on their blog since I am not a member of their "team". Joy Vestal and Myron Silverman are David people down to their underwear and will never print what I send them. You know any ways to do this - I am listening.

    1. You know they all read this blog.
If you can get people to respond on here and agree with you that it's time to stop acting like elementary school children and start compromising for the sake of the Village..if we can get both sides to post on this blog that they agree, then maybe we'll get somewhere.

    2. The only ones from his crew who post on here are those who leave nasty messages. Maybe an ad in the paper might work if the editors would let it thru but they have censored ads of mine before. Worth a try. Maybe after the holidays. It's an idea. If you can post on David's blog why don't you ask him to respond? Futile question, but again, worth a try.

  4. Neville Chamberlain wanted " PEACE IN OUR TIME" and look what it got him.
Peace is for pussies people. The only way to deal with a despot is through annihilation.

  5. Wishful thinking. It goes way beyond wishful. David Israel is the kind of man who believes only in himself. He is mean-spirited, and that characterization is being kind.

It doesn't seem to matter what you say to him; he formulates in HIS mind that he thinks you can do him some harm, and then he categorizes you and you FOREVER become his friendly enemy. For sure, he trusts no one, and that is probably the basic foundation for his personality.

So, if you like to have peace in the village, and have everyone sing the old Coca Cola jingle while holding hands, I'm afraid you'll need to get a person who possesses at lot less hate to serve as the UCO President. That is too bad, - really too bad.

  6. Gotteramerung? No. Kumbaya? No. What we need is for David Israel to realize he is not the omnipotent Wizard of Oz but rather the man behind the curtain, powerless without the cooperation of others. We will not allow the curtain to be pulled back once more. When he realizes this and calls off his dogs of war, then we will have peace in our time, without being Neville Chamberlain or lying down for him to walk all over us. And why is it bad if we look for a President without a heart full of hatred? Hate does not make a person stronger, only more liable to fall harder in the long run, and only more likely to be without anyone when his power is gone. Sad future for our David Israel. What we need is a president willing to work with all, yes, even David Israel if necessary once he is reined in to reality and truth and right and justice and the list can go on and on. Hard to imagine, but within the realm of possibility. Why not talk this whole idea up amongst others at the pool, in emails, at meetings, anywhere and everywhere and maybe there can be progress.

  7. Such language, Mrs. Sutofsky. What is a "Gotteramerung" and a "Kumbaya?"

You say that David Israel comes off as the "Wizard of Oz." Well, he's not the 'Wizard" of anything, in my opinion, except habitual nastiness and hostility toward anyone opposing his views. You can't change the facts.

Trying to tell David Israel something intelligent, i.e., relating to his peers, is like stopping the world from spinning and changing it's direction. Impossible!!! Trying to discuss with him the easing up on the reins of absolute power and control of everything is a total waste of time and energy. It's like expelling flatulence in a hurricane. Why bother?

"I'd like to teach CV to sing in perfect harmony...........da- da, da- da, da- da......hold hands and S I N G. Now , is that a pleasant thought, or what?

  8. No coke songs, no total destruction as in gotterdamerung and no kumbaya moment as a naïve hippie or flower child would go for - just a moment when we could actually reason with David Israel and Co., try to appeal to that little spark of goodness that must still be there. Yes, it is difficult; yes, it is almost nigh on to impossible but we must try. What else are we to do - wait for another two more ruinous years? NO!!!We have enough 60's children here who remember the power of words and action. We stopped a war. We changed the world for a bit. We can do the same here. Why do we not meet when I am back late next week or the week after. I would love to talk with you and harness your energy for the Village.
