Goats get annoyed

Don't annoy the goats !
Many of you have seen my writings on a variety of issues here in the village. Some feel that I am a genius while others think I am crazy. The reality lies somewhere in between, probably closer to
the crazy end of the spectrum. You can call me crazy if you like. I believe that even crazy people have the right to be heard. If being crazy means that my thought processes differ from yours then so be it.

I have been criticized by some and encouraged by others. I accept both constructive criticism and encouragement in my endeavors wholeheartedly and thank the authors for their comments. There are activities prevalent here in the village that I do not and will not participate. Name calling, which seems to be a popular pastime for many is akin to the behavior of schoolyard bullies . It is the last defense of the scoundrel and it reduces the moral position of those who engage in it. It is distasteful to read or hear others using derogatory terms when referring to anyone and it substantially lowers the name callers credibility.

I do not accept personal attacks questioning my motives or my status here in the village. I have been criticized as I am “just a renter” as though that status somehow diminishes my right to be heard or involved in affairs. With the concept of all men being created equal in mind, it logically follows that the aspirations of every soul holds equal value, be they a landowner, sharecropper or homeless person. That includes renters too.

The civil rights act of 1964 ended the unequal application of voting rights despite fierce opposition by those who wanted to keep the status quo denying voting privileges to those who held no
title to property among other things. The idea that if you don't own land, you don't have a stake in the future seems really strange. Century Village appears to be stuck in the past when this idea was enshrined in statutes that have long since been struck down. Proclaiming that you object to the motives of others without evidence is nothing more than pie in the sky theorizing bereft of any basis in fact.

My motives are personal and are not open to discussion. My activities affecting others and my behavior are a different matter.
I have hopes that my observations on events here in the village would lead others to avoid objectionable behavior. I fully expect that I will be attacked by those who do not agree. I will not respond or acknowledge in any way insulting crude behavior and remarks , or personal attacks demeaning my status or appearance, on the other hand I welcome debate on the issues.

I realize that attempting to change the objectionable behavior of the unwilling is futile , as my grandfather once said “ Don't try to talk sense to the goats, you just waste your breath and annoy the
goats”
