CSI and the TV contract

NEWS FLASH!
Comcast is in the process of tendering another bid that
includes the usual cable TV service and OPTION to opt into WIFI if so desired. This means that those who don't want WIFI and don't want the added expense can keep their cable TV without being compelled to pay for WIFI.

Comcast recently brought a new proposal to the negotiating table that gives CV'ers the option of installing WIFI or keeping cable TV only.
The offer came about due to the activities of The Messenger Club,. Not being happy with the Atlantic broadband proposal that was raising rates across the board to install WIFI in every unit, The Messenger Club contacted Comcast representatives who were surprised and concerned that their proposal was being turned down by UCO in favor of Atlantic broadband. Subsequently, Comcast indicated in a meeting with David Israel that they wish to revise their proposal and sweeten up the deal. It's looking better for Century village and looking a lot better for those who have no interest in WIFI or Broadband as proposed by David Israel.

One troubling aspect of the initiative is that CSI was contracted,(with a projected fee of $450,000.00) to provide negotiating services by David Israel, but there were no competing bids from any other company to provide this service. The Messenger club contacted CCG, a prominent telecommunications consulting company who said they would be more than happy to bid on the job.

David Israel stepped out of the bounds of his authority in bringing CSI to the table, he maintains that an old expired contract with CSI gives him the authority to engage their services. Our lawyers say NOT!
Follow the link at the bottom of this page to read the actual contract and the letter from our lawyer to David Israel.

  1. hey if you can opt out of amenities that you don't use, will that mean I can opt out of bus service, or pools, or gym? How about opting out of security? Maybe a person will start opting out of association fees all together. I don't play tennis, so opt out of paying for courts or repairs to them? Obviously you use the internet, so why are you so much against something YOU use? Why? Because someone else you know doesn't have a computer? I rarely get on a bus, but I still pay for it. Buses that go to places I thing are a waste, but people here use them. Should I start insisting that that the buses NOT stop at the little casinos currently on their routes? Or stop dropping people off in front of their homes and just at the bus stops.
geez. People want to get picky? There are alot more things to get picky about... Just because WiFi in your mind is attached to David Israel, and we all know your hatred for the man is almost legendary, it should not mean that you hold back on something that IS GOOD for CV. Something that will bring value to each and every unit. The amenities in the village are what bring most here. Got you here didn't it? Things progress, things modernize. We in the village must go forward and get out of the dark ages.

    1. I saw bob riveras comments about WIFI and I thought a response would be in order. .

Well Bob you did it again! Using David's argument "Thats condo living" Just doesn't cut it. I understand your admiration for David israel and his plan to "bring us all out of the dark ages" But I really have to object to your argument. In the first place: WIFI was turned down more than once by the delegates in a landslide vote against it. Secondly: We all agreed with making payments for buses and security and swimming pools and all that when we decided to buy a unit here in the village. What we didn't agree to is the imposition of new amenities with their accompanying raise in monthly fees. Just because you belong to the minority who want it, Doesn't mean the majority who indicated they are not interested should want it too. There are loads of amenities we could bring to the village if we want to pay for them, How about an airstrip so that a select few can fly in . I mean that would really bring us out of the dark ages, or perhaps we could build a bowling alley, or dig a canal out to the ocean so we could all park our boats around here. That might be a little expensive so we could tone it down by buying a cruise ship or two. That would be really nice, but I can only guess the rest of the village would object to paying for them, I am being a bit sarcastic here , but I hope you get the point. Just because you and your hero want something doesn't mean the rest of us have to agree. The village already said NO, and that should be the end of it. Shouldn't it?

  2. You keep saying the village said no, but you fail to remember they said yes and started collection money for it FIRST. Then what happened? A bunch of you went and took the money and tucked away somewhere else. I gave my money specifically for WiFi, and so did a lot of people, to the tune of OVER $240,000. you had the former editor of the reporter stumble over and over until she could manage to put a couple sentences together and STOLE the Wifi money.I don't care where you put it, nor what was done with it, IT WAS SPECIFICALLY FOR WIFI. If you didn't use it for that purpose, it should be returned to everyone that contributed.PERIOD. If you all want to live in the dark ages then by god have at it. Let's stop paying for amenities used by only a few, forget about redoing the tennis courts, they are only used by 150 or so people, and most of them are snow birds. Let's get rid of the buses and bring back the old open trolley cars that go just around the village, you need to go to the store? oh well you'll just have to do with palm tran buses and pay the 3 bucks. why not get rid of security and replace them with volunteers from the village. You keep complaining about the roads, a crack here and a crack there...If the DA didn't vote down having it done correctly in the first place, they wouldn't have so much to complain about. Now you will wind up having it done much sooner than originally expected. And what's to complain about anyway? there aren't pothole that you could lose your car in like in New York, so you really don't have anything to complain about. Complain about paying thousand for a fishing pier that hardly anyone uses. I heard complaints about that pier for the better part of a year, and how a few wanted it fixed so they don't have to fish from the road... pier gets fixed, they STILL fish from the road. Owners complain about prices for fees going up, but they want bus trips to casinos, wal mart, Costco. It used to be that you had to pay to ride, but apparently someone along the way had no trust in the drivers, former presidents would demand free services for getting our buses to stop at their stores or offices...The point is, not everything paid for by the owners is used by the owners, and nice as they are, they can be taken away. anyone remember the pedalboats? Of course there is always that elephant in the corner, the golf course. You remember, the one that was offered to the residents for a very reasonable price and was shot down, and after years of trying to delay the inevitable, and cost thousands in legal fees, there will be a development built and some will lose their views, and some will lose (or already lost) their backyard area.As far as your landing space for your plane, put some floats and land on the water for all I care. You are still going to need to get some type of communications, I suggest getting the wifi working...and all those that get rid of their DuMonts, you are going to need that wifi.
