Guns and the NRA

October 05, 2015

An 11-year-old boy was in custody on charges that he killed an 8-year-old neighbor with a shotgun because she would not show him her puppies, the authorities said. From the NYT

So what does this say about the Gun Lobby? They say the more guns the safer we will be.

  1. Don't blame the gun or the gun lobby - the responsibility in this case lies with the parents. Why wasn't this gun taken apart, stored in a locked gun cabinet, and the ammo stored in a separate locked cabinet where this boy could not get to it? Obviously, that gun was easily accessed by anyone who wanted access to it. The child who shot the gun has irresponsible parents. Guns don't shoot by themselves. Someone or something must pull the trigger, and no responsible parent would leave a loaded gun unattended.

  2. YOU NEED A LICENCE TO:DRIVE A CAR,TO GET MARRIED,BE A DOCTOR,A DENTIST,A PLUMBER,A ELECTRICIAN... BUT YOU DO NOT NEED LICENCE TO HAVE KIDS... WAKE UP PEOPLE

  3. Totally agree with you Carole. The parent should be and probably will be held responsible. If you are going to regulate guns because irresponsible people and criminals use them to do harm, then why not regulate spoons, knives and forks? More harm comes from overeating. Why not do like Nicaragua and have the death penalty for Drunk drivers? We have a constitutional right to bear arms or arm bears, whatever it is...
