Warning: Atlantic Broad is Trouble

Do we really want Atlantic Broadband as a service provider?

let's not get blindsided by a fifty-seven million     dollar sucker punch.

Should Century village enter an eleven year, fifty-seven million dollar contract with Atlantic Broadband?

Even though the proposal is for an eleven-year term. Signing now means that Century Village is going to be under the terms of the contract until 2030. That's thirteen years!

Atlantic Broadband operates in a few states in America but is owned by COGECO, a Canadian company, who are a major player in the Canadian market. In light of the movement to keep American business and dollars in America, it doesn't make a lot of sense to consider sending our business to a foreign company when there are so many American companies struggling to keep money and jobs at home.

We contacted Comcast who were surprised that their bid was rejected in favor of Atlantic Broadband and are unaware that a vote is planned for the March delegates assembly to accept Atlantic Broadband's proposal.

The representative claimed that it's not necessary to rewire the village with eight million dollars worth of fiber optic cable as the present co-axial cable has more than enough capacity to carry the needs of the village for the foreseeable future. Eight Million dollars plus the three million dollars "gateway fee" being handed to UCO for signing up makes this deal look "too good to be true" . Anyone who believes that the three million dollar "gateway fee" is not going to be recovered by Atlantic Broadband in fees to customers (that's you and me) has a loose grip on reality.

Past activity is a good indicator of future performance when deciding on a service provider. We discovered some troubling issues when we looked at Atlantic Broadband.

Links to customer comments and reviews are posted on our website. Log in and follow the links for a revealing and shocking look at what present and former customers are saying. The comments are disturbing and put Atlantic Broadband in a different light than what the administration and Atlantic Broadband reps are claiming
.
Rating services place Atlantic Broadband at one star out of five due to poor customer service and consumer complaints.

Downdetector .com gave Atlantic Broadband the lowest rating possible. Downdetector is an internet tracking company who keep an eye on outages by internet providers and post current and historical figures reflecting their performance
Did "Team Dave" do their homework and investigate this company before deciding to go with them. Apparently not! It is hard to believe that if they had taken a look they would contemplate doing business with them.

The comments allege everything from deceptive business practices to lousy customer service and outright fraud. A lot of customers expressed frustration in their attempts to resolve problems, and claim that it nearly impossible to reach technical assistance over the phone, and claim that Atlantic Broadband has the worst service department they have ever seen.

In light of these shocking revelations about Atlantic Broadband, it would be a folly to enter into an eleven-year contract with them. It would be a huge mistake to enter any agreement with them if only half of the allegations in the postings are correct.

Signing an eleven-year contract with Atlantic Broadband leaves the village in the precarious position of contracting with a company who allegedly are offering dismal performance. The fact that they are offering the service at a lower rate is not the only consideration. The cheapest is not always the best and usually is not good enough.

The rosy predictions offered by the administration fall flat when a hard look is taken at how Atlantic Broadband is performing at present.
Century village has one shot at getting this right. Keep in mind that "Team Dave" have been previously taken in by slick promotions and glib sales campaigns. The "best deal ever" that was taken on by UCO for a security contract was quickly discovered to be a huge mistake that sent Ed Black (chairman of the security committee) and the rest of the "team" scrambling to rectify.Once this contract is accepted and Atlantic Broadband invests some eleven million dollars in infrastructure it may be too late to change course.
it's going to be up to the delegates to impose some common sense in this issue when it comes to a vote on accepting or rejecting Atlantic Broadband's proposal. David Israel is apparently blinded by his desire to achieve village-wide WIFI and is not listening when the village says NO, and is not looking at or is ignoring the writing on the wall. He may be willing to gamble millions of dollars of our money to get the WIFI he so desperately wants. The big question is whether or not CV is willing to gamble eleven years and fifty-seven million dollars to fulfill his ambitions.
We strongly urge you to take a look at the reviews
posted on our website before deciding what is best for the village. If Atlantic Broadbands proposal is accepted by the delegates are we looking at eleven years where CV residents will join the growing crowd of very unhappy customers. If you don't read the information and choose to ignore or deny the truth, get ready to duck when a fifty-seven million dollar sucker punch comes your way.
Read the reviews and you be the judge
