EYES THEY HAVE BUT DO NOT SEE EARS THEY HAVE BUT DO NOT HEAR

It is a wonder to me when I sit through meetings where reality is denied at point blank range. It is like the Newspeak of Orwell's novel 1984.Calling something a name does not make it so.  When a clear majority of the delegates voted no on the budget for the reason of the WiFi funding, it is oh so very clear that this was not a small minority of :noisy people.

When person after person at a meeting questioned the lack of specifics in a contract, people who had run big businesses, they were told literally that they did not know or understand anything about this contract. You see, only Dave knows, the be all and know all but it did not work so well for him this time. Enough people stood up to him with sharp and incisive questions.

In addition, it was discovered and reported that the company that was going to do our wifi here who had done it in Boca has left much to be desired. The speed is Veeeeery slow, like think of the old dial-up time. The transmitters of the signals or whatever the technical term used are not so good for the people it is on. That is really terrific! So sensible! And, of course, we still have the issue of security.

All one had to do this week was pick up any paper and find an article about the LACK of security on the internet. Even if we include the security code for privacy, was Big Brother Dave going to insist on having everyone's on file? Really? Not mine you wouldn't. Read today's NY Times in an op-ed piece on building a more secure internet. What is really interesting is the weakness of the infrastructure for these systems to block true security and even enhance and enable the lack of it, the intrusion into our very lives. Wow, then we could go find another contract to protect and help our residents get their identities back!

The people have spoken. Your eyes have seen the votes and your ears have heard their voices - or maybe not, if yesterday shows us anything. Once again, you are trying to get the wifi money in there; this time it is $2. The claim is to build up a fund for wifi. Well, Mr. Dave, how or why should we trust you when you have disregarded the wishes of the Village so many times before and raided our reserves like a pirate.

You and your cohorts are like little kids at the holiday times when they absolutely must have the toy of the moment. At present, wifi is like that new toy. If we but wait a bit, truly investigate, get some real competitive bids as the field opens up and write a proper RFP and contract, how much better off we would be rather than hurriedly looking under the tree or by the glow of the menorah. We wish to make use of this "toy" as a proper tool for a long time so we need to take care.

HEAR AND LISTEN. LOOK AND SEE.

Be assured that with Esther together we will work on proper process of contracting and purchasing. Vote ESTHER.

  1. When a person such as David Israel pushes so very hard to install Wi-Fi in the village, it makes me suspicious. He is a retired National Security Agency employee
and as such has much knowledge in surreptitious ease dropping. David, never being married may well receive his cheap thrills in listening to peoples innermost secrets.
Why else would he be so desperate to push for Wi-Fi when the majority clearly do not want it?

  2. Because he hears only his own speech and his own wishes. He continues to call the majority the minority as if wishing makes it so.
