So the Dave's Integrated Computer Services aka 'DICS' committee is planning on combining all the communication services we use into one common service provider. That means the telephone system will be combined into one system. So does that mean the Cell phone, the smartphone, the land line phone, your magicJack phone, even your Ooma phone will be included here?
Not only is he trying to put your phone system into one, what about the Cable. Is he going to try to combine Comcast, AT&T and Satellite TV all into one? HaHa!
Are we, the Delegate Assembly, going to have a say in this? Are we going to be given all the info and then allowed time to ponder it, or is this going to be another jam it down our throats job?
The apparent Vendor of choice is CSI. So who made this choice? Did we get quotes from other vendors? Is this not the Vendor that made a presentation on Dave's plan for a Village wide WiFi and turned it down, flat down?
Did we not vote on WiFi and turn it down? So why is this initiative coming up again with a different name? Does he not know what NO means?
Why don't we have some answers here? Why doesn't David Israel explain himself?

Dave's Integrated Computer Services
I see that a Committee has been formed, a secret committee that is formed to investigate the possibility of combining all our communication requirements under one roof.
I also see that the Company choosen to put this effort to-gether is CSI. There is no information as to competitve bids, or the vetting of this Company. So I guess these people are friends of Dave I.
David Israel is looking for a name of this Committee. A name that would speak to the actual purpose of this Committee.. I could suggest 'Dave's Integrated Computer Services 'DICS' for short.
So far there is no detailed infor on the initiative except for the fact that CSI apparently has been hired. I wonder for how much? What did the other bidders bid? Who picked CSI and why? Why so secretive?

Not our sign?
Below is a copy of a post on the Very Private Blog of David Israel.
You are welcome David.
But why not solve the problem, put up our simple sign on our property and get Mr. Waldman to remove the old eye saw? And while you are at it remind him to cut the lawn.
I "borrowed" this cartoon from one of the other blogs** to publicize the fact that the CV sign on the south side of the Haverhill Gate does NOT BELONG TO CV! We lost it along with the closed Golf Course many years ago when a prior UCO administration (not the current one) would not take over the land when it was offered to CV (too expensive, the old UCO said).

NOT OUR CV SIGN, IT SEEMS.

So, the wall and sign belong to the future Reflection Bay development (aka the Waldmans). So unless Mr. Waldman wants to pay for HIS CV SIGN to be fixed, then WE must pay for HIS SIGN to be fixed.

QUESTION #7
Question #7:
What exactly is going on at the pickle ball/tennis court area? I am told that there is yet another sinkhole under the court and half the tennis courts are closed what with people tripping and falling. If this is so, could we please fix this mess before we find ourselves another $70,000 in the hole (pardon the pun).
Could we please be candid and up front about this whole mess and indeed, what about the sinkhole issue for the Village in its entirety? Is there any way to do a survey about this, for our own safety and sanity.
JUST ADD TO THE LIST AND ADD A DAY ON TO THE MANY DAYS NOT BEING ANSWERED.

Questions of the Day
QUESTION OF THE DAY - #1 THRU #6 AND STILL NO ANSWERS - WHAT A SHOCK!
So here we are, day SIX. But we will continue to post and perhaps one day David Israel will copy these to his blog and actually ANSWER THEM! To make sure there is no problem, we will reprint all previous questions, and of course their answers, but we highly doubt that these responses will be forthcoming. Just a thought! Keep watch on the tally of days awaiting responses. Please scroll to end and then to other new posts. Thank you.
Question #6:
We need to hear a full and detailed explanation of exactly where, how, when and why the $5.3 million dollars was spent on the roadways and how much more - exactly - how much more - possibly as much as another $250,000 that we have spent on patching, corrective drainage and repaving specific areas to satisfy complaints. Where has this money come from, how is it going to be replaced, where is it reflected on the budget and how does this mesh with the "plans" to save and put aside money for a new and complete repaving that will need to be done sooner than later?
This question sent in by Ed Ross and added to somewhat by myself. All such questions are welcomed - and answers from David Israel would be even more welcome!
Question #5: There is talk once more of the roads, that sad situation in our Village, but now the talk is of restriping and sealing the roads with a cosmetic cover, making all look oh so shiny bright black and yellow. Now here is the question, without arguing the right or wrong of the action. FROM WHENCE DOTH OUR MONEY COME FOR THIS PROJECT?
This will cost several hundred thousand dollars and here we are trying to save 15 million for a redo of the paving so again, FROM WHENCE DOTH THIS MONEY COME? And it is not from the Lord, either! Does it come from the slush fund that is now SOP in our Village? How will you move those funds, justify those funds being moved, even tell people since all that slush is a great coverup? Just askin'. Just waitin'. 2 days
Question #4:Why has UCO not been proactive in reenergizing and invigorating the boards at those associations that are under fire as one man continues to buy up units, take over entire associations, and turn them into motels? Why has UCO not reached out or even answered the pleas of those residents who find themselves alone and unable to defend themselves? This is a Village problem, which makes it a UCO problem. Why has UCO not responded prior to this becoming a major existential threat? Are there any plans and if so, what are they? When can we expect to hear of them? 3 days
Question #3:Why do you continue to refuse, against all the rules and laws of Florida, to open the books of the Village to its own residents? It leads one to suspect that you are hiding many things. Why not open them if all is correct and clean?
4 days
Question #2:Why do you feel it necessary to mangle the words of another and repeatedly post these mangled efforts on your blog and without allowing response to it? 4 days
Question #1:
What was your motivation and justification for moving $80,000 overnight, signed off by David Israel and Bob Marshall as VP, as well as the $2 million plus that was spent without delegate approval as per our by laws? 5 days

RECOUNT ISSUE
David Israel posted my recount letter onto his blog. That is fine, though this is not an acceptable or legal response. And why the sarcasm as response to a perfectly licit letter?
There you go again, copying my postings and words onto your blog. Can't you find an original posting? Answers to the questions of the day would do marvelously well.
You have a limited amount of time to answer the recount letter and by the way, my attorney says that this was a great letter, so what seems to be your problem? Just get down to the nitty gritty - send a letter, let's set up a time and place and get this done. Whether the count is right or wrong, we have the right to request a recount. Any citizen has that right and the longer you delay, the more doubt enters people's minds. It is to everyone's benefit to get it over and done with so what is the holdup? This is not a question of reality, but simply a desire to see the ballots and have a recount. I have no problem stating the results of the election so what seems to be your problem?
Just as an aside, perhaps if there were a better system and stricter control over who has the ballots and how they are finally tabulated and where the ballots and results go after that, perhaps then there would be no need for a recount.

Stealing Our Money
STOP STEALING OUR MONEY!
When Myron Solomon requested,
at the delegate assembly, that Howard O’Brien returns the Wi-Fi money to the
residents, he was right on target. Wi-Fi was turned down and the money already
collected should have been returned to the residents; the money should not have
been put into the reserve. This was a clear example by the David Israel
administration of highway robbery. They did not use horses and guns to steal
your money; just a few strokes of the pen.

Observing and not seeing.
What is going on with the President of UCO and his Very private Blog? He is busy culling through Esther's Blog and posting parts of her Posts all with the idea that he is showing us, the readers, something nefarious. Something that is not there.
Better he should write something intelligent, something new and original rather than copying her words and standing back and in effect saying " look at this my readers is she not off the track?"
Not so. She can write. Her writings are intelligent and reach their point.
I would like to see the Great and silent President write a posting that is accurate and leads to a sensible conclusion.
But maybe he is not capable of that?
He is capable of making the rules for the Election Observers, so muddled and so inane that the observers could not observe. That is opposed to meet the requirement of observing the counting of the ballots.
Observers should see every step of the way. The counting and recording should be done in the sunshine, in the open.
Instead the ballots are taken out of the ballot box, put into to envelops and presented to the counters. Nobody saw the movement of the ballots, nobody could see the actual counting of the ballots. The dictatorial rules reminds one of the rules established for voting in Germany 1933.
Need I say more?

Election Results
IF THE ELECTION RESULTS STAND AFTER THE
RECOUNT, IT WILL PROVE TO BE A PYRRHIC VICTORY.
David Israel’s lackeys may
have won the election but at a great expense to the residents.
Many talented, intelligent
and well intended people were left behind yesterday in the UCO election. It is unfortunate that many Delegates allowed
themselves to be herded onto buses (sound familiar?) and marched into the clubhouse
to vote for David’s sycophants. A great
loss to the village will soon follow when these same people have to make
important choices that will affect all of us and there will be no one to stop
them from making dumb decisions. Many of the people who voted for David’s supporters
know very little about the real issues surrounding the village. They are the
ones who do not attend delegate meetings, Officers meetings or any other
meetings, yet they find the time and energy
to come out once a year to vote, and when they do, they gather their only
information from three very biased sources, the UCO Reporter, David’s Blog and
Channel 63. All of which degrade the system of fair and honest reporting.
Sanity
So getting some sanity in UCO's operations and Administration has to be considered a work in process. Despite the Edgar Bergen Charlie McCarthy team of Village Distructors, that would be Israel and Black, we have gotten 2 of our people on the Executive Committee. Hurrah for us. More to come.
BTW who is Charlie McCarthy and who is Edgar Bergen or who is the Dummy and who is the wooden head?
Despite all the Communication blackouts we have had to endure, the yelling at us at the delegates Assembly, the calling of Names on his private blog' we persevered. We are Victorious. We are winners. And there is more to come.
We will not stop our fight for Sanity in the operation of Century Village. We need intelligent operation of UCO and D.Israel is not it, he can't do it, he has shown us that already. His paranoiac rantings have turned many of our Villagers off.
So now seems to be the time to get rid of David Israel and some of his cronies. His remark that many of the Volunteers cannot be accepted "Not on my Watch". We can fix that. We will take him off watch permanently.
Lets vote for Retroactive Term Limits and clean house.

Observer Report
OBSERVATIONS OF AN OBSERVER.
I just spent my morning acting
as an observer in the election that took place today. It was not a task I relish, but I thought it would be
interesting to see just how the counting of votes is conducted in a UCO
election of officers. I have some experience as an observer in elections. I
acted a a scrutineer in municipal
elections, and a few Canadian federal and provincial elections .
After the polls closed we
gathered in a large room in the clubhouse. Everyone was checked to make sure they were authorized to be
there. Each candidate has the right to have an observer present at the count.
The people counting votes drew
lots and were separated into groups of four and seated at tables scattered around the room.
The observers were read the
rules by the foreperson , they included : no cell phones, no recording or taking pictures, no
talking to the counters, you can talk to each other as long as you are not close
to the counters, No leaving the room, if you leave you cannot come back, no
writing anything, and no hovering.
Hovering? What
does that mean? asked a perplexed
observer.
It means you can't hover close
to the tables where the counting is taking place, you can walk around the room and you can stand
around as long as you are at least a table length away from the counters
was the reply.
A large stack of envelopes was suddenly produced, each envelope contained
a stack of ballots from the
election, one envelope with a corresponding tally sheet attached was passed to
each table where the counters set to work tallying it all up.
As an observer something didn't
seem quite right, How did the ballots get into the envelopes ? It might
sound like picking at hairs, but the fact is : I didn't see anyone doing it.
Who emptied the
ballot box and filled the envelopes ?
I saw some
guys sitting at a table in the corner ,busily shuffling papers and stuff, I
didn't know what they were doing and
I don't think any of the observers knew either.
I assume they are honest and
not up to any hanky panky, but I'm
not there to assume.
The process of tallying up the
votes is tedious to say the least, the counters at the tables seemed to be following the proper procedures.
But as an observer I was not
really able to observe. I couldn't get close enough for long enough to see what the counters were doing.
As each name was read from the
ballot it was recorded on the tally sheet by another, I couldn't see whether the
person calling out the name on the sheet was calling out the right name, or
whether the person recording it was getting it right .If you got too close to
the tables and hung around too long, they
threatened to kick you out.
I wandered around and watched
and listened, it felt like a classroom where exams were taking place. I wanted a drink of water and a visit to the loo,
and I wasn't the only oneAt one point
after a couple of hours , the foreperson suddenly started shouting . “ NO TALKING,
NO TALKING” That was a little
stunning, she just got through telling us we were allowed to talk, She
then sat down and started a conversation with
someone at the table.I thought
that the rules are for everyone, or am I mistaken? I guess I must be mistaken, because it wasn't
long before I saw the foreperson leave the room for a few minutes, taking the security guard with her, she reappeared a few minutes later. She made it loud and clear at the
start of the proceedings ” No one is
allowed to leave “
Then a photographer showed up and started taking
pictures for the newspaper.
As I wandered around the room I
noticed some more activity at the table in the corner , a laptop computer was placed on the desk
and the tally sheets were being entered into the data base. I couldn't
see that either, The man on the computer had his back in a corner , he
said it bothered him if anyone looked over his shoulder. So he sat there
punching in numbers while everyone else had to stand back
Not really
being able to see what he was doing. A volunteer sat in a position that blocked anyone
from viewing from the side.
Finally the foreperson
announced that the results were not going to be revealed until Mr Israel gets
them. The question was asked “ can we observe the transfer of the information.
? I didn't hear any answer to that.
One objection I am compelled to
make is about the way a volunteer observer was treated by the foreperson.
While the votes were being entered into the computer, some observers gathered
around in front of the table, One of
the observers sat down at the table, She was immediately pounced on by the foreperson
who announced. “ The observers are not allowed to sit at this table” The tired
volunteer got out of the chair and stood behind it at the table. That was not
called for. It didn't mean a tinkers
damn to the proceedings, it
demonstrated the attitude that the observers were forced to endure.
I was
expecting them to place each ballot on the table in view of the observer as
they have done in other elections
where I acted as scrutineer.
It is the
observers job to monitor the opening of the ballot box, and then to monitor the counters
to see if what is on the ballot agrees with what is written on the tally sheet,
and to check the numbers when it is added up. I would think
that an observer should be able to see the numbers being copied into the data base, and should be able to take notes.
If the
ballot box is opened without observers being aware of it and observers are not being allowed to really see what is going
on with the counting and tabulating, then what's the point of having observers ?
I was finally forced to leave
by natures calling. I dashed down the hall and ran bursting into the men's
room muttering to myself .
I don't think that any hanky
panky took place. But I don't know . I couldn't see. I didn't get to see it all wrapped up, I had to go and
they wouldn't let me back in the room.

LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!!!
Well, he has pulled it off again. Despite the observers upstairs hearing the names again and again of those who belonged to the Reformist Party, despite all the errors that were made and OBSERVED, despite the physical deficiencies of the tallyers as THEY COULD NOT HEAR!, despite the fact that Gorodetzer had to be called again and again to fix errors, and despite the promise and the statement made by Gorodetzer that observers WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE AND HEAR THE TOTALS AS THEY WERE INPUT INTO THE COMPUTER AND THE CALCULATOR - DESPITE ALL THAT - WELL, WHADDYA' KNOW - SUDDENLY HIS SLATE MADE AN ALMOST CLEAN SWEEP.AGAIN.
SO HERE IS WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
1. We demand that there be a recount.
2. We demand that the recount be witnessed by the candidates and totally new counters and tallyers be brought in.
3. We demand that there be a different system used to count - one caller and two tallyers so that the numbers of both tallyers must match at the end of the recount of each envelope or all the ballots, depending on the system used.
4. We demand that the whole system be marked as invalid as there were no instructions or lessons given to the counters and the observers, nor were the observers allowed to truly observe.
5. We demand that the original promised action be incorporated in the recount - that observers SEE AND HEAR the totals, not be told that they should leave.
6. We demand that the ballots be the originals, not copies and will do the recount in the UCO office so there is no possible suspicion of tampering after or before the fact.
7. It is necessary that Marilyn Gorodetzer be present to answer any questions that may arise.
8. We demand an answer within the strict limits of allowed response time.
9. Should we not be satisfied with the answers and the proposed recount, we will be forced to turn to outside legal means.
This will be posted on two blogs and will be sent to David Israel, president of UCO and Marilyn Gorodetzer, chair of the Election Committee, via certified mail.

Poisoning the well
Poisoning the well is a term used to describe a tactic used in arguments and debates. It's a tactic used with gay abandon here in Century Village. Names and labels are tossed back and forth in a never ending cascade.
The strategy is to cast aspersions on your opponent with the intention of creating a bias against them, in doing so you attempt to discredit them and by association destroy their position. Some people are pretty good at it, I guess they had a lot of practice.
Usually the party using this tactic has no reasonable defense or point of view to offer and resorts to attacking the person rather than the issue at hand. It's not something you would need if you have a sound argument .
If you have the evidence to back up your side, you pound on it.
Without evidence or rationale you have to pound on the table.
Be aware of this tactic, and be wary of those using it. Most attempts at poisoning the well play into the bias that already exists in the minds of listeners, if they are religious minded you call your opponent a heathen. If they are loyal Americans call him or her a traitor or a commie, and so on.
Branding your adversary with a negative stereotype is effective in winning a debate. Heres a little scenario that demonstrates how to handle it if it comes your way.
Someone calls you crazy , you counter by saying “Why would you say that ? Is it because you think everyone who doesn't think like you is crazy? “
Someone says “ Don't listen to them, they are just a bunch of no good immigrants / Africans / Commies ”or any discriminatory term aimed at a group.
You reply “ Why don't you and I change places for a while, you come over here and act like you are me, I'll go over there and act like a bigot”
By doing this you are destroying them and their attempt at poisoning by pointing out their bigotry, in effect the tables have been turned.
The way to counter to these types of remarks is to give your reply in the form of a question, preferably a question that addresses the motive rather than the content, hopefully it makes them look
bad no matter the answer, it should be aimed at the motive underlying the remark rather than the person making it. Heres a few strategies to illustrate the point.
They say You say.
“You're a %#*& %# “(sexual ) “Aren't you a little too preoccupied with sex ?
“You don't belong here” “ Who gets to decide where I belong ,I hope it's not you ?“
“you're just a troublemaker” “ Trouble for who ?”
“F#%* you” “ Not now but thanks for offering. Now can we
get back to the issue.”
Sometimes all sides engage in it and it turns into a mudslinging match. Usually there's no way to tell who won a mudslinging match , because both sides are covered in mud.
Not playing the game when it comes to poisoning the well is not really an option, When mud is slung at you, it's hard to ignore. Recognize it for what it is and have a strategy to deal with it .Be aware that anyone using the tactic of poisoning the well probably has a few planks missing from their platform. It is mostly used when they are backed into a corner and can't find anything else to say.
Mr Israel's remarks about the people who voted down his WIFI initiative is a glaring example of an attempt to poison the well, Stating that he will not be controlled by a mob, then posting a picture of gangsters with accompany remarks with the same theme on his website indicates that it's deliberate and contrived.
The question I would ask if given the chance, would be “ Mr President are you ducking the mob
or the issues. ….. or both ?”

….. or both ?”

Clouds and Silver Linings
EVERY CLOUD
HAS A SILVER LINING AFTER ALL!
To this
time, I have chosen to remain silent on the issue of committee membership. Specifically, how are members of the
committees chosen.
However, I
cannot continue to allow others to extol Ed Ross’ qualities and the
contributions he might have made had he been permitted to serve without making
it clear of how I feel. Ed’s profession
– architecture – his many years of living in Century Village - more than 10 –
and his desire to give back to the community he has called his home for a long
time are hard to duplicate.
So you might
ask, why was he not listed as a member of a UCO committee for more than 5
years. There is no mystery here. Others have already given the reasons why.
Ed did apply
to a number of committees; Infrastructure, Bids, Advisory, Finance, Operations
and others. From each and every one of
them, one person – and one person only – said “no, not on my watch.” And, by this time I am certain all of you who
read these blogs know who that was. Yes
folks, your illustrious leader – the one who appears to suffer with paranoid
tendencies and, of course, his trusted aide who seems to believe that money
should be spent and spent just as fast as it can be spent. I am sure you know who I mean so a name is not
necessary here either.
So, because
of paranoid tendencies everyone, every citizen of Century Village, West Palm
Beach is having to deal with cracked roadways, poor drainage, sinkholes and $5
million down the proverbial drain.
Well folks,
perhaps there is a happy ending to this story after all – at least for me. Your loss is my gain. Unfortunately, that leaves you with the cloud
- I got the silver lining!
