Congratulations to the PB Police for stopping these predators.
So what is happening with the South Hampton Fence
Century Village residents still uneasy following arrest
Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
WEST PALM BEACH
An arrest has been made in connection with the wave of break-ins at the Century Village complex in July. But that hasn’t allowed Frank Veglia to feel any better about his safety.
Veglia, owner of one of the eight apartments burglarized in the Southampton building of the retirement community, was victimized twice. While Veglia was in Boston, thieves broke into his residence on July 13. They returned a couple of days later to take what they hadn’t grabbed before.
Inside a stolen safe were Veglia’s personal papers, including his birth certificate, passport and credit cards.
Someone used Veglia’s credit card at a gas station, then called American Express and asked for a new card be sent to an address on the 1900 block of West 16th Court in Riviera Beach.
The address belongs to Gernardra L. Stephens, who was arrested Wednesday by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Stephens, 24, faces two counts of grand theft and single counts of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, dealing in stolen property, fraud for falsifying owner information of pawned property and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
PBSO has connected Stephens to only two of the burglaries at Century Village. That’s left Veglia, 61, a little uneasy.
“I sleep with one eye open at a time and I always leave a light on,” Veglia said. “When they catch them all, then I’ll sleep better.”

Great Work by the Police:;
ReplyDeleteThe article does not say how she entered thwe village or got out.
Did she scale the fence?
Did she enter by car, bike or afoot?
How did she carry the safe?
The village should get this question answered.
Then we would know if the new fence would have helped in this case.
