A True Story

There was a conference in France where a number of international
engineers were taking part, including French and American.  During
a break one of the French engineers came back into the room saying,
"Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done?  He has sent
an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the Tsunami victims.  What
does he intend to do, bomb them?"

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly:  "Our carriers have
three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they
are nuclear powered and can supply emergency power to shore
facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000
people three meals a day; they can produce several thousand gallons
of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen
helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from
their flight deck.  We have eleven such ships; how many does France
have?"

You could have heard a pin drop.

  1. I sent to you this True Story because I wanted to remind everybody just how narrow-minded and shortsighted even intelligent people can be. Such people want to blame others for anything and everything, and in this particular case, it is former President Bush (younger). Do you think that this same intelligent engineer would have said the same thing about President Reagan under the same circumstances? I doubt it.

How about this scenario: President Obama decides to run again (just like Grove Cleveland who was president twice, -- the 22nd and 24th) against President Trump. Given today's atmosphere and hate everywhere, this could be an extremely close vote. So, who gets more adverse criticism and who gets more praise? Who gets more blame for anything and everything? And the winner is --- the person who can deliver more love of fellow man and not lie about it. EDWARD J. ROSS
