Social security info.

i just read on the drudge report that for the third time in 40 years there will be no increase in social security next year.  the cause for this is the low cost of fuel. so, now there will be disabled veterans, senior citizens, and families that need these funds to keep body and soul together. i wonder if food stamps and other social services will be stalled or cut? think of our folks here in century village that are trapped living hand to mouth counting on the few extra dollars increase.

please post. i think this is something we should all be aware of.

  1. CV RESIDENTS: Social security no increase in 2016, Bank interest rates no increase in 2016. UCO increase in 2016. WPRF increase in 2016. We're on a fix income. Time to get involve.

  2. WE LIVE IN A CONDOMINIUM. NOT A COMMUNE. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UNFORTUNATE FINANCIAL AFFAIRS OF SOME PEOPLE IN THE VILLAGE.

  3. ANONYMOUS: THEY KEEP SPENDING MONEY FOOLISHLY, WITHOUT THOUGHT OF ALL THE RESIDENTS IN THE VILLAGE, THEN YOU GOT BIG TROUBLE. IT'S COME DOESN'T COME DOWN TO FINANCIAL AFFAIRS, IT'S HOW YOUR MONEY IS BEING SPENT WISELY. THE RESIDENTS DON'T HAVE A VOICE HOW THEIR MONEY IS SPENT. YOU SAY, WE LIVE IN CONDOMINUM, YOU SHOULD HAVE A SAY, HOW YOUR MONEY IS SPENT.

  4. Anonymous: You write about FINANCIAL AFFAIRS of some people in the VILLAGE. There are some FINANCIAL facts for you. $11,OOO for 4 MICS, $8,000 mural for the bottom of the indoor pool, $5.2MIL. for the roads, new SIGN for the WEST GATE, LIGHTS for DUCK ISLAND. We all pay for this. Do you like PEOPLE to spend your MONEY, & YOU DON'T HAVE A SAY. We know we live in a CONDOMINIUM, but we should have a SAY or VOTE HOW OUR MONEY IS USED.

  5. There is no plan by WPRF for a mural in the BOTTOM OF THE INDOOR POOL. It is a mural for a WALL AT THE INDOOR POOL. This misinformation has been posted on this blog numerous times. It needs to be corrected by whomever is posting this error.

If you are fortunate to live long enough, you too, will be struggling to live on your savings and what you receive from Social Security in a few more years. Many of our residents here in the village have lived 30 or more years longer than their life expectancy at the time of their retirement. Social Security was never designed to help support people forever, because it was very unusual to even live to reach the age of 70. Nowadays, when you reach 70 and are in relatively good health, you will most likely live another 20 or more years. In addition, Medicare doesn't cover all medical expenses. Some medications cost over $2500.00 per pill. How far do you think your wonderful management of your finances will take you before you have nothing left if this should happen to you? Do not rush to blame people for poor management of their finances. You have no clue what you are talking about.

    1. Carole. I hope I am fortunate enough to live long enough.(whatever long enough is). But if I am living here in CV. I don't want to live in squalor. I want our home to be maintained and upgraded.(and please don't say that tired old "pay from my own pocket ")

  7. ANONYMOUS: YOU SAY,(YOU WANT YOUR HOME TO BE MAINTAINED AND UPGRADED,). DO YOU THINK $11,000 for 4 MICS, $8,000 MURAL, LIGHTS FOR DUCK ISLAND, NEW SIGN FOR THE WEST GATE, IS HELPING MAINTAIN OR UPGRADING YOUR HOME. HOW ABOUT USING THE MONEY WISELY & FIXING OR UPGRADING, WHAT WE NEED TO BE DONE NOW. THE FENCE ALONG HAVERHILL IS FALLING DOWN, THEN THEY WILL TELL YOU, (WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THE FENCE.) WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT, THE 4 MICS FOR $11,000, MURAL FOR $8,000, LIGHTS FOR DUCK ISLAND, NEW SIGN FOR THE WEST GATE. JUST USE THE MONEY WISELY & MAINTAIN & FIX, WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED NOW.

  8. Yes. By all means, let's bring on Phyllis Richland, the food stamp lady. The village could be one big Sheffield O and looking like the projects. ?

  9. ANONYMOUS AT 1;13P.M. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. IT WAS UCO WHO KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON AT SHEFFIELD O FOR THREE (3) YEARS. WHEN SHEFFIELD ASKED UCO FOR ADVICE, UCO SAID, ( IT'S NOT OUR PROBLEM). HOW DID SHEFFIELD O, GET THE GATE PASSES & ID CARDS. MAYBE IF YOU GOT INVOLVED, YOU WOULD FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE VILLAGE & YOU WOULDN'T SAY, ( IT'S LOOKING LIKE THE PROJECTS.) PEOPLE TALK & DON'T GET INVOLVE. WHY DON'T THEY DO THEIR TALKING, TO MAKE THE VILLAGE, A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL OF US TO ENJOY OUR RETIREMENT. TALK IS CHEAP, BACK IT UP.
