MUSINGS PART IV
What goes around....the way the cookie crumbles and other such sayings...all describe what happened yesterday at the meeting. While I could not be around due to a prior commitment, I followed via the broadcast and the blogs as well as phone calls as to what happened. Dave is not a happy camper The time has come for him to go and he is not yet willing to recognize that, blowing a great deal of hot air, yelling at Phyllis Richland, for G-d's sake, of course with Ed Black there as the puppet master, and making threats about just wait for the delegates assembly.
He himself used the term "Dump Dave" and he has now decided to consign any and every one who disagrees with him into that group which wishes to do that and unfortunately for him, he has found that there are a whole lot of people who are part of that set. Who is to blame for that? Go look in the mirror, Dave. You brought this upon yourself by refusing to listen to other, saner voices; to other ideas and suggestions; to anything that did not mesh 100% with you and your thoughts.
Again, I remind everyone about the September 30 meeting for sign ups, nominations and volunteering. Let us overwhelm the lunatics, the lemmings, that will still follow Dave over the cliff despite all that has been seen and heard concerning the opposition to Dave and the reasons why. If you yourself cannot run, then work for a candidate that is opposed to Dave and his harmful nonsense. Work for someone or a slate that recognizes the place of bylaws and the necessity of abiding by them. Support those who would prefer to work via a consensus or at least via a working system of polite debate and accurate voting.
Speaking of voting - WE MUST set up a fair and impartial tally system, not where one of Dave's acolytes sits by herself or himself and counts the votes. Seem a little off to you? Me too. Let us continue to move along the path to a better UCO and it is okay if you do not agree 100% on every issue. That is what makes it a democracy.

The Bid Committee is Irrelevant

Class action is not costing us!
It's time
for everyone in the Village to wake up and stop believing everything that they
hear. The one story that is going around the village is that the Class Action
Law Suit that has been filled against UCO is taking money out of your
pockets. This is a lie that is among the many lies that has been told to the
Residents of Century Village.
The only cost that has been paid so
far is a $5,000.00 deductible which should be covered by the 2013 budget
that has $10,000.00 to cover any legal issues. The next item would be the cost
of the Directors & Officers Insurance Policy which costs each and
every unit owner Twenty Six Cents ($.26) for the entire year. This policy
costs a little over $2,000,00 for the entire year of 2013.
NOW CAN YOU TELL ME HOW
YOUR POCKETS ARE BEING PICKED.?
If people
want to talk about how their pockets are being picked wait
until the truth comes out about the real cost of WI-FI .You will be in for a surprise. Even your Bid Committee refused to Vote on
this project at their meeting on August 22 as these bids needed
more clarification.

The Bid Committee
Very Little Action at the Bid Committee Meeting
The Bid Committee had a scheduled meeting this Monday the 9th. Not many committee members new of it and so there was very few members present. So what happened? The Wi-Fi bids were supposed to be considered, they weren't. So now that the Bid Committee shelved the Wi-Fi bids, what do you think will happen at the next delegate meeting? Will El Presidente force his way on the delegates?
And to add more fuel to the fire, this blog and its authors (Posters) are on fire informing us all of the despicable machinations of the current UCO administration. The more I read, the more you read, the angrier we are getting. It has to end and the Spring Elections should do it.

MUSINGS PART III
So Now What?
So we have reached the point of realizing that to do nothing, to let things just roll along, not so merrily, was to allow poor government, (and I am being generous here), to continue to grow, to allow our funds to be depleted, perhaps against Florida condo codes besides other violations, and to allow the infrastructure of our Village to deteriorate.Now please, do not get me wrong. We should not just pack our bags and give up, for the same situation can occur anywhere - all we have to do is allow it and people are not very different no matter where they live.
What we need to do is ACT! Find out when the sign up is to run for office and sign up. Go volunteer for committees so that Dave and minions do not rule. Sit in on Committee meetings and be gadflies. That is an honored American tradition. Call the present government out on anything and everything. Force them to be transparent and honest. You say you have a life, so let others do it. Well, that is how we got here in the first place. Just go to one meeting. You have appointments? Trust me, I know all about that, but let us try to schedule future ones so that we can go to a meeting or two. Become active in your condo association. Become an expert or at least become knowledgeable about an area of the Village that interests you. There are so many. But, please, let us not just sit back and say someone else will surely do it. Please, as Michael Jackson sang,"Begin with the man in the mirror".
So, am I just mouthing off, telling everyone else to put their money where their mouth is? No! I am going to take my own advice and go to that meeting and sign up for something. Please, join those of us who know now what has been happening. Go back and reread the Scandals parts. Out with Dave. Out with Ed. Keep the good. Out with all trickery. Man, I think I need to go watch Les Miz again.

Musings Part 2
How did we get HERE?
MUSINGS PART II
For those of you waiting with bated breath, here goes part II of the musings. We have asked the question why UCO can not run just like a well run building and as of yet have not received any answer or guidance. But we must remember that it is often stated that we get the government we want or have earned and I shudder to think that is true in the case here, though it might be to some degree.
So how did we reach that point.
I will use my own experience as an example of how we got to where we are. When we first bought and were snowflakes, we came as often as possible, as soon as we could string three days together. We found it relaxing, pleasant and welcoming. As snowflakes, we did not get involved in the government of the Village, barely even recognizing that there was one and what it did. I think Kurt Weiss was the president at that point.
Then in 2003 we made the big move, selling out and moving down permanently, no back and forth for us. We acclimated to our new home and explored what was around us. We found shows and theater, libraries, great shopping of all kinds and lots of friends. Gerry became active in the condo association and by default, so did I. But I must confess that after having retired I certainly did not want any hassles, pressure related to job and responsibility, etc. so we just drifted along, paid maintenance and WPRF and just asked a few questions, but human nature being as it is, we began to focus a bit more and ask more pertinent questions.
We were horrified at the Millennium deal; we were horrified at the whole scandal with the Clubhouse after the hurricanes and did not understand what the heck was going on. Little by little we began to figure it out, talked to people and became more in the know. So we voted for those we thought would be better for the Village and then there was the dirty campaign between Dave and Dan. At that, we just about threw our hands up in disgust and said, basically, screw it all and went on with life. We got involved in lots of things, but generally not heavy into the Village government.
Then Dave's government became impossible. Nasty things were going on, being condoned. People who were not elected had a voice in the running of the government and Village. I guess they imagined they were as Cheney to Bush! The odor of the UCO situation became rank, almost overwhelming and grew even more as small problems were neglected and became bigger ones and finally came the wake up call. The septic tank was overflowing.
This whole business with the paving of the streets just about blew the roof off the issue for us and for many other people. The Village was in severe danger of going bankrupt, the manner of paying bills and assigning funds was damn near criminal, if not actual. people were being defamed and threatened and when I asked questions on Dave's blog I had to push and push and finally he published some test for phase one which answered nothing as it did not say what was the phase two results, what happened after time had passed, why the streets were collapsing already, how roads are paved without milling, where the money came from and where it went, and on and on. So we woke up and now are writing postings and asking questions but getting no answers from Dave and minions.
So how did we get this government - by not taking an active part in it, by waiting too long to demand answers to strong and pertinent questions. I was guilty of doing that and so are many of us here in the Village but if we do not stand up for ourselves then nobody else will and we will find ourselves robbed of a Village. People, hear the plea. Become active. Ask questions. Demand answers. Force your delegates to vote as YOU and your fellow residents wish, not as Dave has threatened them to vote. Come out against Dave and the rottenness of his reign and a reign it is as he has become a tinpot dictator. Together we can fix and cure, take out the trash and get the right people in. Speak up for yourself. That idiot Elainb, and others like her are NOT the voice of the Village. We ARE. Speak up.

MUSINGS PART I
I really like the format of Eduardo's Scandal listings so I am going to borrow that idea. Just going to jot down some of my thoughts on all these issues and how we all got into this mess. Any opinions, just speak up, but no name calling. That is for the other blog.
So what makes a good and cohesive unit of government. I believe I live in a great example of that. Our board, members and officers know that to work together is to better our building. At meetings, all are welcome and may speak their piece, board member or not. Yes, we have some disagreements and some people just do not like each other all the time, but there is a process and procedure and a vote is a vote. When any resident is in a situation, the building pitches in and I must say that I have been the grateful recipient several times. We welcome each other's guests and family and know that our building is the home of all of us.
Our board functions. There are no secrets or backroom deals. Fiduciary duties and responsibilities are taken very seriously and no one can just sign off on an expense. Our treasurer is awesome, to say the least, and watches over the money and the budget with a close eye. Our other officers and members are always there to meet a contractor or help handle a problem and the present president took over from another long term president. Honesty, transparency, care and concern - that is what makes our building great (In the name of honesty and transparency I must confess that I am a bit biased in the case of the president as we have been married for 46 years).

Roberts Rules Rule
Elaineb, as I can hear at the Delegates meeting the Golf Course monies was turned down, you can clearly hear Mr. Israel pronounce the results of the vote. The problem is that he is/was wrong.
Against a arbitrary determination of what is correct in Roberts Rules the fact is that a simple majority rules. So the Vote for the Golf Course monies passed with a simple majority. It did not NOT pass as our knowledgeable President so decrees. So this matter is passed and should not come up again. Below is the operative rule. Note the argument against the plus (+1) rule.
In determining the result of a vote, what constitutes a majority?
Answer:
The word "majority" in this context means, simply, more than half. The use of any other definition, such as 50 percent plus one, is apt to cause problems. Suppose in voting on a motion 17 votes are cast, 9 in favor and 8 opposed. Fifty percent of the votes cast is 8 1/2, so that 50 percent plus one would be 9 1/2. Under such an erroneous definition of a majority, one might say that the motion was not adopted because it did not receive 50 percent plus one of the votes cast, although it was, quite clearly, passed by a majority vote. [RONR (11th ed.), p. 400; see also p. 66 of RONRIB.]

The phrase "abstention votes" is an oxymoron, an abstention being a refusal to vote. To abstain means to refrain from voting, and, as a consequence , there can be no such thing as an "abstention vote."
In the usual situation, where either a majority vote or a two-thirds vote is required, abstentions have absolutely no effect on the outcome of the vote since what is required is either a majority or two thirds of the votes cast. On the other hand, if the vote required is a majority or two thirds of the members present , or a majority or two thirds of the entire membership , an abstention will have the same effect as a "no" vote. vote. Jean Dowling put a motion on the
table to remove the line item for the golf course from the budget. The majority of the delegates voted to pass
the motion. Then David fed you some
gibberish about plus five minus two which no one understood, and he got away
with saying the vote did not carry. Well, David, the vote did carry, and you
screwed the delegates. Royally again. The shame of it is, they let you.
When are you dummies going to
wake up and realize how dangerous this man is and how necessary it is for you
to VOTE FOR TERM LIMITS to get rid of him? We need someone HONEST, INTELLIGENT
and RESPECTFUL to take his place.

Elaine Brown has a problem supporting the Golf Course yet she does not have a problem supporting WiFi. Why? Because of pure unadulterated selfishness. SHE will save money with WiFi. She believes developing the Golf Course will not put money into HER pocket.

I can appreciate everything that you have to say, after all, you have an opinion, and you must be heard otherwise our democratic way will be broken. Alright, let’s agree about one thing, -- you’re an Israel and a Black supporter, a loyal supporter, as a matter of fact. And, I don’t mean a jock-strap (I’m kidding, I’m kidding with you).
I would strongly suggest that you have another look at SCANDALS, Parts 7 and 7A. Is there anything in either of these articles that is not true? Everything has been researched. Can you make the statement that the truth has been stretched? It is stated in plain old unadulterated King’s English so that no one can spew "What did he say?".
You say that you are "NOT" focusing on the "FAIRNESS or UNFAIRNESS" of pulling money from the different funds. Well, then, you are missing the entire point. Do some research and you will find that what Israel and Black did was a blatantly criminal act according to professionals who know the definitions of unauthorized use of corporation funds. What they did was totally secret. Nobody knew what they were doing with your money and mine, and everybody else’s. Nobody approved the shifting or the manipulation of monies. If this was WPB or PB County money, the Attorney General would have been all over it and the con game authors would be heading for the hoosegow or, at the very least, not preparing to run again for office.
Israel and Black were so worried that all of this secret manipulation of money could surface, and they wouldn’t be able to answer questions about paying lots of bills, that they decided instead to borrow money via a line of credit, and that was another matter that fell flat because it was another con.
Alright, let’s talk about the UCO Reporter. All of the money the Reporter gets is earned ad revenue; no money comes out of any unit owner’s pocket there is no assessment. Nobody has a right to put their hands in your pockets, -- don’t you agree? That’s what Israel and Black did. Without anyone’s permission they took the Reporter money to satisfy the scheme they had going. Surely you must agree, -- it is unethical to do that, to say the very least.
Now, you want to know how Dorothy Tetro was able to pull it all together after all principles of money management were violated. I can appreciate everything that you have to say, after all, you have an opinion, and you must be heard otherwise our democratic way will be broken. Alright, let’s agree about one thing, -- you’re an Israel and a Black supporter, a loyal supporter, as a matter of fact. And, I don’t mean a jock-strap (I’m kidding, I’m kidding with you).
I would strongly suggest that you have another look at SCANDALS, Parts 7 and 7A. Is there anything in either of these articles that is not true? Everything has been researched. Can you make the statement that the truth has been stretched? It is stated in plain old unadulterated King’s English so that no one can spew "What did he say?".
You say that you are "NOT" focusing on the "FAIRNESS or UNFAIRNESS" of pulling money from the different funds. Well, then, you are missing the entire point. Do some research and you will find that what Israel and Black did was a blatantly criminal act according to professionals who know the definitions of unauthorized use of corporation funds. What they did was totally secret. Nobody knew what they were doing with your money and mine, and everybody else’s. Nobody approved the shifting or the manipulation of monies. If this was WPB or PB County money, the Attorney General would have been all over it and the con game authors would be heading for the hoosegow or, at the very least, not preparing to run again for office.
Israel and Black were so worried that all of this secret manipulation of money could surface, and they wouldn’t be able to answer questions about paying lots of bills, that they decided instead to borrow money via a line of credit, and that was another matter that fell flat because it was another con.
Alright, let’s talk about the UCO Reporter. All of the money the Reporter gets is earned ad revenue; no money comes out of any unit owner’s pocket there is no assessment. Nobody has a right to put their hands in your pockets, -- don’t you agree? That’s what Israel and Black did. Without anyone’s permission they took the Reporter money to satisfy the scheme they had going. Surely you must agree, -- it is unethical to do that, to say the very least.

Scandals Part 7A
Secretive and illegal dealings
Your attention is directed to SCANDALS Part 7. In the last paragraph of that factual accounting, I made mention of the possible need for a SCANDALS Part 7A in order to complete SCANDALS, Part 7. Additional data has been uncovered which emphasizes the backroom, secretive and illegal dealings that the President, Mr. Israel, pulled right in front of your noses. He might have been trained to do just that.
Understand clearly, -- monies were used for paving roadways and sidewalks that were never approved or budgeted by the Delegate Assembly, otherwise known as the UCO Board of Directors. Budgeted monies have been approved by the Delegate Assembly for a specific use. Approval for use other than as budgeted is necessary. Accountants have required documentation for any change to the budget and this information should be available from minutes of a meeting when changes are approved.
Dorothy Tetro, the elected Treasurer of UCO went on vacation toward the end of May 2012 to about the middle of June 2012. While she was away, the President, Mr. Israel, under a cloak of secrecy, -- electronically transferred $80,000 into the Road Reserve account; $30,000 taken from the Ambulance account and $50,000 from the General (Dues) account. This electronic transfer has a paperwork trail dated May 31, 2012, and it is signed by David Israel and Robert Marshall. It is clear that Mr. Marshall agrees with everything that Mr. Israel dictates.
It appears to be very clear that all of this backroom secret dealing was the work of Mr. Black, who, you may have observed, never puts his signature to anything involving dollars.
So, the total amount of money raped from these seven accounts now comes to $1,150,632. That’s correct, -- over a million bucks.
It was Black’s convoluted scheme to use every single cent that he could manipulate out of these accounts, and he was bold enough to do so because he had the backing of the President, Mr. Israel, himself.
Frequent payments were being made to the paving contractor, each payment $100,000 or more and at times the UCO Road Reserve checking account would have been overdrawn by thousands of dollars without the infusion of these illegally transferred dollars,. This was the shell con game – the repetitive shifting of monies to make up shortfalls; to offset negatives.
And, there is Mr. Israel looking out at all the Delegates with a shellacked smile on his face and saying nothing about the illegal shifting of over a million dollars of our money and the keeping of these dealings top secret. He’s looking right at you and lying to your face about how well the paving job is going. What do you do with such a person, -- elect him again?

SO HERE WE ARE AND WHERE DO WE GO??
SO HERE WE ARE......
So here we are and where do we go from here? We have reached the point of hanging all of Dave's dirty laundry on the washline, providing details, especially financial details, and other information as to what has gone wrong. While perhaps we can allow for the thought that maybe Dave started out with a good goal in mind - the betterment of the Village - even that was contaminated by the way that it was done, with dirty politics being played with Dan Gladstone and a letter that retracted all those nasty inferences was never published properly nor truly admitted to in public, like at a delegates assembly. And then we had the ongoing fiasco of the road paving which, G-d help us, will affect us for years to come all the way down the road. but wait! There's more! (Sorry for the humor, I just always have to see the humor in a situation - something I actually do not see in Dave, a sense of humor, just a sense of self importance), but anyway, there is more.
We had the ongoing problem of the Waldmans and Reflection Bay and Dave, not liking the Pro Active Committee people, decided to hide his head n the sand and not go after RB with all the faculties and personnel at hand and here we are with fences on our very doorsteps and NOW, he wakes up? Really? Where the hell was he before? Why did he not help the people of the committee who begged and pleaded for UCO to hear them?
We have the issue of security and again, I have my doubts about that whole issue. Yes. certain events took place but oh so suddenly? And what about now? All we hear is that "things are being done" but what? Where? Supervised by ?
Let's see....what else? Oh, yes. What about the changing population of our Village? Suddenly renters are proliferating and the checks on them are not being done properly, if at all, and hearing a wimp of an excuse that it is the Association's responsibility is not acceptable. UCO has a duty to the Village to keep it properly and has power and influence when it wants. It just doesn't want to tackle this lest some of the delegates be turned off by Dave and he loses their votes. And there are the other people who are afraid to question Dave about his actions or inactions because he threatens them - you will lose a room in a Clubhouse or UCO will not answer your questions, or a personal attack. I have lost count of the people who have told me that Dave will come after me. For what? For exercising my right to free speech?
I know this is a long piece but there is oh so much more. The whole wi fi issue and its stupidity. Public wi fi is NOT SECURE. There was just an article about that in the NY times. So what are we pushing - a way for more of our senior citizens to suffer identity theft and lose savings, IRAs, brokerage accounts or whatever. But that would be fine with Dave because he would divert them with little skits on Channel 63. Please, we must set our priorities straight.
Dave, once again, reach out to some of your Village population. Ask for their help. Ed Black must stop being your Rasputin. Work with all of us and for Heaven's sake, stop with your stupid malcontents term. You sound like an infant. Do you see President Obama calling names? Does name calling arise in Parliament? Where did you get this nonsense from? I hereby promise that if you stop this stupidity be it this name or any other name aside from opponents, then I will stop calling you secret agent man, though I still get a laugh from it. No way Wi-Fi
I get it, I get it, Elaineb, I need a smart phone to see the advantages of CV Wi-Fi. I don't have a smart phone. I have a cell phone that I pay in advance and use to talk on occasionally, why would I want to go out and buy a smart phone and save all that money that I am not spending?
I guess it is only important to you people that think the majority of CV-ers are interested in being on the leading edge. I have news for you all. That is not the case. The truth is that out of the 7000 units, about 15,000 people, only a very few people are interested in Wi-Fi. G-D only knows how many have smart phones, or will go out and buy smart phones to get these imagined savings. Not among these is Elaineb!
Help us defeat The Legacy minded-one and his followers. Lets do it now and move on to the real business at hand!!
